11 Stages Of Waiting For 'Guardians 2' To Come Out, From Making A Mixtape To Adopting A Pet Raccoon
The day has finally almost arrived. After nearly three years of waiting, the greatest film of the 21st Century will finally see its sequel fly into theaters on May 5. That is, of course, the date when Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 premieres. It's been a painfully long time since the first Guardians movie first debuted, and I've gone through several stages of waiting for Guardians 2 to come out.
Now, when I say that I believe Guardians of the Galaxy is the greatest film of the 21st century, I'm not using hyperbole. I firmly think that. It's my favorite movie to come out in years, and it's the one movie that I can't imagine a single person not enjoying. It has something for everyone. It's funny as hell, has great action and special effects, memorable characters, an engaging storyline, loads of emotion, and the soundtrack is probably the best I've ever heard. So basically, I've been waiting for the sequel ever since the credits rolled on the original back when I first saw it in theaters in August of 2014. And now that excruciating wait time has almost paid off, but I'd be lying if I said it was easy. So here are all the stages of what I went through while waiting for Guardians 2 to finally arrive.
1. Watch 'Guardians 1' On Repeat
I mean, this is a no brainer, there's just no better way to pass the time.
2. Memorize Awesome Mix: Volume 1
I can now sing the entire first film's soundtrack solely from memory.
3. Put Together A Tribute Awesome Mix: Volume 2
A few songs from the new film have been revealed, like "Fox on the Run" by The Sweet and "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, but it's fun to try and figure out what the rest of the soundtrack will look like.
4. Buy All The Baby Groot Merch
Baby Groot is poised to be the breakout character of the sequel, and there's no better way to prepare for his ascension than by purchasing everything in sight that bears his likeness.
5. Watch Every MCU Movie On Opening Night To Look For Easter Eggs
Nothing yet, but Doctor Strange was dope.
6. Study Every Trailer, Teaser, & TV Ad
Trying to piece together the plot of Volume 2 takes up most of my time these days as I scour every released clip for clues.
7. Read Up On The New Characters
Mantis, Ayesha, Ego... these guys all have fairly long history in Marvel Comics, so better familiarize myself with them now so I can be an expert before the film rolls around.
8. Grow A Yondu-Inspired Mohawk
Honestly, I think it's a pretty good look.
9. Consider Adopting A Pet Raccoon
I said consider, I have since decided against this.
10. Write James Gunn & Try To Convince Him To Give Me An Advance Screening
So far all I've received back are cease and desist letters, but ceasing and desisting is for quitters.
11. Look Into Cryogenic Freezing Options
Honestly, I've made it this far, I can probably last a few more months... but I still haven't completely ruled this out.
