Have those fans and misters on stand by! Jennifer Lopez is set to take the Super Bowl stage in Miami this weekend, and fellow Latina sensation Shakira will join her for a halftime performance that's sure to be just as exciting as the game itself. As one of the original multi-hyphenates, J.Lo has consistently delivered epic performances on stage, on screen, and on the red carpet.
Her style is ultra glamorous, always elevated, and just a tad bit daring. She's an undisputed fashionista who only seems to get better with age. J.Lo has been such a mainstay in the entertainment world over the past 20 years that we can often take her cultural impact for granted. After all, we are talking about the woman who singlehandedly spurred the creation of Google Image Search with her Versace dress.
In the years since The Dress, Jenny from the block has continued to build upon her reputation as a trendsetter and sartorial risk-taker. And she's helped make her unique brand of style accessible to the masses: She recently worked on collaborations with fast-fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing and celebrity eyewear favorite Quay. In 2019, she received the Council of Fashion Designers of America's Fashion Icon Award, which cemented her place among the fashion greats.
“From the infamous Versace dress, to her music videos that are cemented into pop culture world history, and to her myriad of iconic red-carpet moments, Lopez’s style has always been a standout,” the CFDA said in a statement. “Lopez also pioneered the business model of turning her beauty and style into that of a brand. Through her fashion, beauty, and fragrance lines, the Jennifer Lopez brand has to date grossed over a billion dollars.”
While it's virtually impossible to choose just a handful of our most favorite J.Lo looks of all time, we're determined to give it a try. Ahead, we've selected some of the highlights from her very lengthy (and impressive) red carpet repertoire.
2000 Grammys
The dress that started a revolution. Need we say more?
2000 MTV Video Music Awards
J.Lo was way ahead of the streetwear-on-the-red-carpet trend.
2002 Oscars
She went with Versace yet again at the 2002 Oscars, opting for an ultra feminine, soft pink gown with a sleek, fitted bodice
2010 Grammys
The multi-hyphenate artist loves a bold metallic moment, which is exactly what she delivered a decade ago at the Grammys.
2011 Golden Globes
She was an all white-vision in this Zuhair Murad dress, accessorized with a white box clutch and flower-shaped diamond earrings.
2015 Golden Globe Awards
No one can work a leg pop quite like Jenny from the block. She truly sparkled in this Zuhair Murad number.
2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party
She channeled old Hollywood glam in — you guessed it — Zuhair Murad Couture.
2016 Ice Age premiere
Jen chose to go monochrome in this ultra chic Vatanika dress, complemented by matching white accessories, including pumps, clutch, and hoop earrings.
2018 Met Gala
This gem-encrusted Balmain gown came complete with a black feathered train.
2018 Second Act premiere
When J.Lo does color, she really does color, like this larger-than-life Giambattista Valli couture gown.
2019 Grammys
No one can pull off an oversized brim quite like J.Lo. Here, she pairs it with an embellished Ralph and Russo column dress.
2019 Oscars
She served up the sparkle in a disco ball-inspired design by Tom Ford.
2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party
After the main awards show, she changed into a black and navy dress by her go-to designer, Zuhair Murad. In true J.Lo form, it featured iridescent detailing and a dramatic leg slit.
2019 CFDA Awards
To accept her CFDA Fashion Icon Award, she arrived at the ceremony in a dramatic coral two-piece by Ralph Lauren.
2019 Toronto International Film Festival
At the premiere of Hustlers at the Toronto International Film Festival, she shined in a sunny Maison Yeya dress. She accessorized with strappy stilettos and a clutch that looked like a stack of cash. We love her dedication to a theme.
