Selena Gomez & The Weeknd Should Collab

From the looks of some recent photos, it appears there may be a new new pop music couple ready to take over. Since the emergence of "DraLo," I've been on high alert for the next hit-making duo to bless the airwaves with chart-topping jams. TMZ caught Selena Gomez and The Weeknd leaving restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and they couldn't keep their hands to themselves. The internet has been quick to jump to conclusions that the "Love You Like a Love Song" crooner and the "Earned It" singer must be dating, but I'm keeping my eye on the prize for new music. (Bustle has reached out to reps for Gomez and The Weeknd for comment on reports that they're dating and/or making music, but has not yet received a response.)

While Gomez had her arms draped over the "Starboy," The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) held her closely and even gave a kiss. *Swoon.* A source told Us Weekly that Gomez and The Weekend "have known each other for a while, and have been working on new music together."

Hmmm... What could they sing about? Long lost love? Fights with friends? The inability to feel your face and keep your hands to yourself at the same time? I'm getting ahead of myself. Surely their personal lives offer up some clues of what a Gomez-Weeknd collab could look like.

Office Politics

Fans of Gomez may fear some "Bad Blood" brewing between her and Taylor Swift's squad since The Weeknd used to date model Gigi Hadid's sister, Bella Hadid, and the crew all hang together. The former couple split in November only to reunite on the catwalk at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris. Who could forget the slayage as Bella left The Weeknd in the dust while she strutted her stuff?

But before any member of Swift's squad considers attacking Gomez and The Weeknd's potential "Love Story" remember this: The singers performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show back in 2015, so they have a professional relationship already established. Maybe they'll write a song about awkward encounters in the work place?

Both Gomez and The Weeknd have been in very public relationships that ended in equally public breakups. Gomez famously dated Justin Bieber off-and-on for four years, and that seemingly endless saga could provide Gomez with tons of material for new songs. As for The Weeknd, the newly single man may just want to brood about bachelor life until finding his next relationship.

Just last month, The Weekend said he used drugs as "a crutch" to combat writer's block in an interview with The Guardian. He told reporter Tom Lamont that songwriting is an "escape" for him to express his insecurities and create his own world. “I mean, we’re all insecure, aren’t we? I’m not walking around like I’m macho man or anything.” As for Gomez, the singer has been very vocal about her struggles with lupus as well as the anxiety and depression that accompanied her diagnosis. Perhaps an uplifting ballad is on the horizon for these two?

Whatever the case may be, a couple of photos of two celebs kissing does not instantly mean they're in a relationship... as awesome and epic as that could potentially be. Let's wait it out a week or two and see what the radio brings us.
