Taylor Swift & Lorde Are Still BFFs

It's been a while since we've heard about one of their epic hangs, so are Taylor Swift and Lorde still friends? It used to be that a quick trip to Instagram could provide reassurance of their bond, but the pair hasn't appeared in any photos together in a minute. So, is it over between the two performers? Not by a long shot. It seems like both Lorde and Swift have just been very busy lately, so their paths haven't crossed as much as they might like. But there is still definite proof of their affection for each other if you know where to look.

For a while, it seemed like all the 1989 singer was posting were photos of her squad, and Lorde tended to feature prominently. But even though Swift has slowed down significantly in documenting the rest of her gal gang, she's still made a point to shout out Lorde. The 27-year-old has been largely absent from social media in the last few months, potentially because she's rumored to be in England exploring a new relationship with Joe Alwyn. She's posted only two photos to Instagram since early February 2017, and one of them was dedicated to her friend from New Zealand.

After Lorde released her single "Green Light" off of her upcoming Melodrama in March, Swift posted the above image to Instagram with a heart-warming message. The caption said, "g2g brb just gonna make up an interpretive dance to this magnificent bop for the ages ELLA I LOVE YOU." If that doesn't scream BFF-ship, I don't know what does.

Plus, even if their social media presence is a bit low, Swift and Lorde still snag a photo every time they share the red carpet. They haven't overlapped at a 2017 awards show yet, but I'm hoping Sunday's Billboard Music Awards will change that. Previously, the young women have sought each other out at the 2015 Golden Globes, pictured above, and the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in 2016, below. In photos from both events, their expressions are matching and their arms are slung comfortably around each other. It's the perfect picture of friendship.

More recently, when it came time for Lorde to celebrate her 20th birthday in November 2016, it was Swift who threw the party.

And Swift added yet another effusive caption on that second photo, sharing:

Thank you for the music you make, the advice you give, the thoughts you provoke, and the way you've made my life more beautiful since the first day we met up in New York and ate burgers on a park bench and got attacked by squirrels.I. Love. You. So. Much. Ella.

So sorry to disappoint anyone who's thirsty for drama between these two, but that sure doesn't sound like an issue to me. You have to remember that depending on where they are and what they're working on, there's a high likelihood that Swift and Lorde aren't even on the same continent. Lorde is based out of New Zealand, while Swift has homes all over the place, but mostly seems to stick around the United States and, lately, possibly Europe. (Winky face.)

They're also two of the most sought-after artists in the industry right now, so their schedules stay pretty full. Lorde is in the midst of a promo tour for Melodrama, and Swift is two-and-a-half years out from an album, so she's probably working on something. Plus, the besties actually began their friendship after an insult, so they've already been through a lot together already. At this point, it would be hard to break the bond they've forged, so it's safe to assume that they're as close as ever.
