These Arie & Bekah Tweets *Might* Be The Biggest Spoiler Yet

Over the weekend, some eagle-eyed members of Bachelor Nation noticed something that was as curious as the current Bachelor's wrestling gear. Just a few days ago, The Bachelor’s Arie Luyendyk, Jr. and Bekah Martinez tweeted FaceApp collages — within 12 hours of one another. It could be a meaningless coincidence. But what if it isn’t? What if Bekah M. won Arie’s season and the two are spending the weeks leading up to the finale secretly hanging out and secretly chatting and secretly FaceApp-ing with each other? After all, Bekah M. is one of the frontrunners on Arie's season, and if she were to end up with the final rose, it wouldn't be the craziest outcome.

On Sunday, Jan. 21 at 12:39 a.m., Bekah M. tweeted, “It’s past midnight on a Saturday and this is what I’m doing with my life.” The “this” being messing around with FaceApp. She shared the photo editing app’s results with her Twitter followers. Nothing too odd about that. But here’s where things take a turn and head down Conspiracy Avenue: About 12 hours after Bekah M. sent that tweet out into the Twitterverse, Arie tweeted out his own FaceApp results. First, here's Bekah M.'s tweet:

And here's Arie's tweet:

If a Bachelor star and a Bachelor contestant had posted about FaceApp in April of 2017, it would be less suspect. Just about every human was posting FaceApp-ified images on social media last spring; you couldn’t log onto any social media platform without looking at quartets of digitally altered pictures of your friends. However, it is not not weird that the current Bachelor and one of the season’s frontrunners shared their FaceApp pics several months after the app reached fever pitch. (In internet years, several months is a lifetime.) What are the chances that they both randomly happened to get the FaceApp itch a long while after it was a ubiquitous internet thing?

A handful of vigilant Bachelor fans spotted Bekah M. and Arie’s FaceApp posts and rightfully wondered if the two FaceApp posts had anything to do with each other.

If this FaceApp situation is in fact a clue about how the rest of Arie’s season plays out, it surely wouldn’t be the first time a Bachelor/ette season was spoiled by a social media post. About a month before The Bachelorette Season 11 finale aired, Kaitlyn Bristowe accidentally Snapchatted a picture she took with her not-yet-revealed fiancé, Shawn Booth. And before audiences saw Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise Season 2, the Jade Periscoped while hanging out in Tanner's hometown of Kansas City. And in a possible spoiler that’s not related to the FaceApp incident of 2018, Bachelor spoiler king Reality Steve says Arie might’ve given away the ending of his season on Instagram. (Again, this contains possible spoilers for the ongoing season of The Bachelor, so only check it out if you’re chill with that.)

Sure, this FaceApp thing could be nothing more than happenstance. Maybe Arie and Bekah M. have gone their separate ways since filming and these tweets have nothing to do with each other. Perhaps both randomly felt like fiddling around with FaceApp over the weekend totally independent of one another. Or Arie might’ve just stumbled upon Bekah M.’s tweet on Sunday and thought, “Hey, that app looks like fun, I’d like to give that a try.” Or there could be a Bachelor alum email chain where everyone shares memes, and maybe this hypothetical Bachelor alum email chain is really into FaceApp right now.

Or maybe, just maybe, Arie accidentally spilled the beans via a tweet about FaceApp. Fans will just have to stay tuned to find out if this was a clue, or if it was nothing more than a red rose herring.
