Congratulations are in order. According to a source close to the couple, Ben McKenzie married Morena Baccarin on Friday, June 2. They reportedly wed in New York at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Bustle has reached out to McKenzie and Baccarin's reps for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
It sounds like it was a lovely ceremony, but what makes it all the more special is that Friday was also Baccarin's 38th birthday. Not only did she supposedly marry the man she loves dearly, but she also got to celebrate her birthday the very same day. Now that is how you turn two celebrations into one grand and unforgettable event.
People describes their wedding as a "small, intimate ceremony." Per E! News, "a source close to the couple" said the Gotham co-stars invited only their close family and friends. The two met on the set of the hit FOX drama and like their characters, Leslie and Jim, they fell in love.
Reports of them dating first began in September 2015. That same month, it was reported that McKenzie and Baccarin were expecting their first child together. Baccarin has a 3-year-old son, Julian, from her previous marriage. Then, in November 2016, the couple got engaged. It was announced in March 2016 that they welcomed a baby girl named Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan, which is McKenzie's actual last name. You could say they've experienced a lot together in a somewhat short amount of time.
Before Frances' birth, the former O.C. star opened up to People about becoming a dad for the first time. "It’s exciting and it’s something that I’ve wanted for a long time," he said. "I’m very happy about all of it. Poop, diapers and everything. It’ll be fun."
From dating to Baccarin's pregnancy to getting engaged to having the baby to now a reported wedding, the actors have certainly had quite the whirlwind romance.
