The One Thing Every 'RHONY' Fan Needs To Remember About Luann & Tom

The story of Luann and Tom is the saga that never ends on Real Housewives Of New York. Luann started dating the confirmed New York City bachelor back in Season 8, and by Season 9, the two were happily married. Well, that is until Luann announced their divorce in the summer of 2017. It’s been downright exhausting to talk about Tom and Luann for two seasons, and on the Real Housewives Of New York reunion, Bethenny brought up the most important point about Luann and Tom’s relationship — it’s no one’s damn business!

At the end of Season 8, Bethenny told Luann that her friend had sent her images of Tom allegedly kissing another woman. Luann confronted him, and Tom never flat-out denied the claims — he said he didn’t remember, and then he said to Luann on the phone, “It’ll never happen again.” He and Luann did an interview with People soon afterward in which Tom said, “If I could take it back, I would. I deeply regret the mistakes I've made, and most of all hate the way it hurt Luann." Still, he never shook off the rumors of even more alleged infidelity, and we’ve been hearing about it foreeeevvverrr. At the Season 9 reunion, Andy opened Luann’s marriage up for discussion again, and Bethenny made the smartest statement I’ve heard in a long time on Real Housewives Of New York. She said:

"We've all heard things, but we're numb now. It's like hearing about Trump tweets or scandals or whatever — we all have heard stuff. We just — she's married. Whatever their situation is is whatever their situation is, and Luann's not an idiot. Whatever Tom does she probably knows, whatever she does he knows, or they do nothing. It doesn't matter to any of us anymore."

Hallelujah, thank you! As a long time viewer of Real Housewives Of New York, I know how the drama gets made, and I know what’s interesting to viewers. You know what’s not interesting anymore? Luann and Tom and their relationship. Bethenny’s words are the angle that the show should have taken since the beginning of Season 9. What good does it do to Luann and Tom to have all of the other women on the show harping about who may have done what and where? Tom and Luann are adults, and it is no one’s business about who kisses whom and who allows what to go on.

That’s the beauty of being a grownup — you can do what you want and, as long as you’re not hurting anyone, you’re good to go. Luann and Tom may have split (probably for good), but even that shouldn’t be fodder for Season 10. After going through the ups and downs of her own relationships, Bethenny knows what it’s like to be in the spotlight, and she knows this chapter of Luann and Tom should be shut tight — and soon.
