Nobody Can Decide How To Feel About The "Bagel Doughnut"

Every morning, immediately upon waking, I do two things: cry a little, and then think about what I want for breakfast. For many of us, breakfy typically comes down to a bagel or doughnut. Well, I have good news for you: now you don't have to decide — because a bagel-doughnut hybrid has hit the scene, and now millions of Americans can enjoy their two favorite breakfasts simultaneously in all its artery-clogging goodness.

Among other things (like whether to call it a dagel or a boughnut), the interwebs are wondering what the hybrid treat tastes like. That depends on where you get yours, because boughnuts have popped up all over the place, from B. Doughnut in Virginia to PVDonuts in Providence, Rhode Island to Blackbird Doughnuts in Boston. One common menu item across cafes and bakeries seems to be an "Everything Bagel Donut" type of thing, which is exactly what it sounds like and makes my mouth feel confused. Worth noting, though, is that if you head to B. Doughnut (where they explain that these are technically Portuguese doughnuts called malasadas), you can also enjoy variations like vanilla bean, lemon curd, and cinnamon sugar.

As soon as news of the trending dagel hit Twitter, thanks to the Washington Post, everyone had an opinion.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to blame millennials for this.

Admittedly, I'm not sure how I feel about these. My bagel mood and doughnut mood are two completely different moods, and I'm not sure they're meant to be combined. But, but, but... look at 'em!

I'm not sure what all the hate is about, because I think it can be bunches of fun to try new food creations. And let's not pretend that this is the first time people have gotten creative with doughnuts. There are glow-in-the-dark doughnuts, '90s-themed doughnuts, Girl Scout Cookie-flavored doughnuts, and even donuts made of gold. Honestly, was the dagel boughnut masterpiece that far behind?

No. Embrace it.

The innovate hybrid is all over the social medias. Enjoy!
