Bustle's Editors On New York + Golden Globe Nominations

by Danielle Colin-Thome

It's Monday, and we're really creeping up on the holiday season and New Year's Eve! Hopefully things are winding down for you — whether that's at school or work. However, things aren't really easing up when it comes to the news. Today's been a busy one. Here's what had Bustle's editors talking Monday, Dec. 11:

New York + Explosion

Early Monday morning, there was an explosion in New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal caused by an explosive device that detonated prematurely. A suspect was apprehended and is now in police custody. It has been reported that four people were injured.

Port Authority, located right near Times Square, is a huge commuter hub in New York City, and one of the busiest bus stations in the country. The explosion severely delayed buses and subway trains into the station, as well as traffic on the surrounding roads.

ICYMI: While the New York City explosion was unfolding, Trump was tweeting about something entirely different. Trump took to Twitter to complain about a story in The New York Times regarding how much TV he watches per day. Needless to say, the timing was inopportune.

2018 Golden Globes + Nominations

The 2018 Golden Globes nominations are here! Big Little Lies came out on top— with a total of 6 nominations, including acting nods for Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. However, fans were pretty disappointed by the lack of recognition for shows like Stranger Things, and This Is Us, and the movie The Big Sick. Also, there's definitely some confusion around why Get Out was nominated as a comedy... very odd.

Hair Inspo: There's new hair trend on the market, and it's festive AF. Yeap, I'm talking about mulled wine hair! If you're trying to shake things up during the winter months, this might be perfect for you.

Mario Batali + Sexual Harassment

Celebrity chef Mario Batali is the latest to be accused of sexual harassment. On Monday, Eater published an article containing allegations made by four women. In light of this, Batali is stepping down from his gig on ABC's The Chew and the operations of his company Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group. In a statement to the press, he acknowledged that "much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted".

Shopping Break: Ever wonder what your fellow beauty junkies are adding to their carts? Here are 23 beauty products millennials are obsessed with.

Robots + Relationships

A survey by Havas that interviewed 12,000 people worldwide has released some pretty interesting (and potentially shocking) findings on how millennials feel about robots. Specifically, having ~relationships~ with robots. Which, incidentally, a significant portion of the population doesn't seem to have a problem with. I guess robot-human romances could be the future of dating?!?

What To Watch: With the holidays sneaking up, you're gonna have a lot of time to marathon TV shows. I recommend you take a look at these 14 underrated shows you might have missed this year.
