Bustle's Editors On New York + Brett Ratner

by Rachel Simon

It's November! October was jam-packed with major news and events, especially towards the end, and if I had any guess, this new month won't be any different. Already, there's a ton to talk about in both the political and entertainment worlds, and we're only a day in. So without further ado, let's recap everything that had Bustle's editors talking today, Wednesday, Nov. 1:

New York + Tragedy

On Tuesday, a man driving a truck in downtown Manhattan deliberately killed eight people, injuring several others. The attack is being investigated as terrorism, and witnesses say they heard the man shout "God is great" in Arabic, but remember — don't blame Islam for his horrific actions. More info will likely come out about the man (who's in custody) and the attack's victims in the coming days.

Quote Of The Day: "New Yorkers are strong, New Yorkers are resilient, and our spirit will never be moved by an act of violence and an act meant to intimidate us," — NYC mayor Bill De Blasio, in a speech.

Brett Ratner + New Allegations

More power Hollywood figures are being accused of sexual harassment and assault. Six women, including Olivia Munn, have accused director and producer Brett Ratner of sexual misconduct (he disputes the women's accounts). Meanwhile, Dustin Hoffman has been accused of sexually harassing author Anna Graham Hunter back when she was 17 (he released an apology on Wednesday).

The Bachelor + Its Big Return

Get ready, Bachelor Nation — Arie's season of The Bachelor is premiering super soon. ABC announced on Wednesday that the show will return on Monday, Jan. 1, aka New Year's Day. Nothing better to start off the year than a new season of everyone's favorite romance reality show, am I right?

Congrats! Lady Gaga is reportedly engaged to Christian Carino, a talent agent.

Starbucks + Holiday Cups

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here — the return of Starbucks' annual holiday cups. The 2017 cups feature new designs of holiday scenes that look like they came out of coloring books, meant for you to decorate however you wish. Happy holidays!
