Once again Pornhub’s 2016 Year in Review proves that human sexuality is indeed complicated AF and what people like to watch when they get off is, sometimes, the most mind-blowing stuff you’ll find on the Internet. I mean, will we ever forget just how prevalent the term “Easter bunny” is searched on Pornhub over Easter weekend? Probably not.
This year Pornhub did what they usually do when it comes to compiling a year’s worth of data: dug deep and analyzed trends to bits. In addition to seeing searches for zombie sex surge around Halloween, as well as searches for such delightful things like “clown fart” and “clown feet,” Pornhub also found that the Olympics and the presidential election were also making an impact on searches, too. Because if you didn’t maniacally search Pornhub during Election Day for something, anything at all, to distract you as state after state went red or were one of the people who searched “Donald Trump” enough to put him 144 percent over searches for Hillary Clinton, then maybe you didn’t make the most of 2016.
But of all the search terms that were tossed around on Pornhub’s site this past year, some were weren’t so surprising at all. Here's a look at some of the most popular search terms.

The World Loves Their Lesbian Porn
For the second year in a row, “lesbian” was the most popular search term in the world. But are you surprised? Research has found that not only do men like lesbian porn, but women love lesbian porn, too — even straight woman. It also came in second place in the United States. But in other English-speaking countries, like Australia, Canada, and the UK, it came in first place.

"Step Mom" Got A Lot Of Love
As far as worldwide trends go, the search term “step mom” jumped from third place in 2015 to second place in 2016. In the United States, “step mom” remained in the top spot, just as it did last year, because apparently there’s a boatload of people crushing on their step mom — or something along those lines.

Women Get Hotter With Age
Although ageism in Hollywood is alive and well, maybe those who watch porn don’t see it that way. Case in point: “MILF” is very high up there on the list of search terms. Not only is it in third place as far as worldwide searches go, jumping up two spots from last year, but it’s in fourth place for the top searches in the U.S., also jumping up two spots on list as well.

"Teen" Searches Slipped A Bit
Granted “teen” is still in the top five of searches on a global scale, it dropped from second place in 2015 to fourth place in 2016. In the U.S., that drop was even steeper, with “teen” falling out of the top five most searched terms in 2015 (where it was in fourth place) to eighth place in 2016.

"Step Sister" Became More Popular In 2016
Searches for “step sister” jumped this year. Worldwide it jumped two spots from last year, making it into the top five, at fifth place, in 2016. While in the U.S. the term jumped four spots into third place.

"Cartoon" Has Seen Better Days
Although the search term “cartoon” managed to stay in the top five searches in the U.S. at fifth place, it fell three spots between 2015 and 2016. As far as global searches go, it dropped from fourth place in 2015 to seventh place in 2016. Looks like porn cartoons might need to shake things up a bit, if they want to get back into that coveted top five.

"Lesbian Scissoring" Made The Biggest Jump Of All The Search Terms
2016 seemed to be the year that “lesbian scissoring” got a whole bunch of people off. The term jumped a whopping 28 spots, making its way into the top 20 global searches, putting it in 15th place. In the U.S., “lesbian scissoring” jumped 18 spots, once again securing itself in the top 20 searches, putting it in seventh place.

The U.S. Just Discovered "Massage" Porn
Although the search term “massage” remained in the top 10, at ninth place, as far as global searches were concerned, in the U.S. it was a different story. In the U.S., it jumped 63 spots not only putting it in the top 20, but in 13th place.

The Video Game "Overwatch" Made Its Debut As A Search Term
As history has taught us, when it comes to Pornhub porn searches, pretty much anything is game. Since that’s the case the term “overwatch,” in regards to the video game that, according to Pornhub, is “well known for its fast action and overtly sexualized characters” debuted in 11th place on the global top 20 search list. It also made it to 16th place, having jumped an insane 452 spots, on the list of U.S. top searches. In Brazil, however, it made it to first place, even beating out “lesbian.” Sounds like some video game.
Through their research, Pornhub once again teaches us that what you search at night that you might think is a little, well, "out there," really isn't all that shocking. There's definitely someone else, maybe even at that exact moment, searching a term that can make you look as vanilla as can be.
