It's Really Not Crazy If Corinne Went On 'BiP' With A BF
A couple of weeks have passed since Bachelor in Paradise first announced filming was off — and then back on again — but there are still so many questions surrounding the alleged incident involving Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson. And now that we know that Olympios is in a relationship that began before she headed to Mexico for the show, it's only natural to be curious as to why Olympios went on Bachelor in Paradise if she had a boyfriend. Bustle has reached out to her rep for comment, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
Not long after news broke about the BiP scandal, Olympios' boyfriend, Jordan Gielchinsky, spoke openly to E! News about his plans to continue supporting her — a statement that could come off as little confusing, knowing the nature of BiP. Since the idea of the show is to hang out on an island for a few weeks, hopefully pairing off with a fellow Bachelor alum and possibly leaving not only in a relationship but also engaged, at first, it seems like going on the show already attached would be kind of pointless. But there are many possible reasons Olympios could have gone on the show, and they involve factors people outside their relationship may never be fully aware of.
Considering her recent stint on The Bachelor, the fact that Olympios and Gielchinsky are even together is still very new to most fans, so it goes without saying that no one really knows the finer details of their relationship. Many people participate in open relationships, so that could be their arrangement, too. There's also the possibility that maybe they weren't even exclusive or dating at the time Olympios signed the contract to go on the show. But even if they were, there are reasons to head to paradise that have nothing to do with finding love.
Just like being a contestant on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, going on Bachelor in Paradise also comes with serious career perks, especially if Olympios is trying to build her personal brand. If you're on BiP, you can almost count on more social media followers and for companies to approach you about promoting their products on social media — something many stars of BiP past have done — which can come with seriously impressive paychecks. Who wouldn't want to get in on a chance to make easy money like that?
And since Olympios launched her own clothing line earlier this year, it wouldn't be surprising at all if she wanted to use the opportunity to promote her new venture. Getting her name and brand out there to such a large audience? That would be hard to pass up for any entrepreneur.
But it might not even be as complicated as that; it might just be that Olympios wanted to have fun. An all expenses paid vacation to a gorgeous international beach where the drinks and food just keep flowing and you get to hang out with a bunch of your friends — what's not to like? It's hard to blame her for going just for that reason. It sounds like the ideal way to spend a summer.
No matter why Olympios chose to go on BiP, it seems that she and Gielchinsky had agreed that they were both comfortable with her appearing on the show, and that's what truly counts.
Earlier this month, Gielchinksy released the following statement, via E! News:
"I have known Corinne for over 10 years and as a friend or boyfriend, she will continue to receive my unwavering loyalty and support until I decide that there is a legitimate reason not to give it ... Anything the public may perceive that is coming from me is pure speculation. There is an ongoing inquiry that must follow a course to its conclusion before I can fully comment ... I pay very little attention to the media and try to ignore all the conjecture surrounding my relationship with Corinne. The only two people who know the true disposition of our relationship is Corinne and I."
Even though the BiP experience seems to be over for her — after the production shutdown, she hired a lawyer who is handling his own investigation into the matter — she came out the other side with her relationship in tact. And it seems that she'll have his support regardless of what comes next for her.
