Arya Roshanian (he/him) writes about movies & culture for Bustle. Previously a reporter for Variety, his other reporting, essays, and criticism are published or forthcoming in BOMB, Guernica, Vox, Electric Literature, Catapult, Refinery29, and elsewhere. Arya received his Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Columbia University and his writing has also received support from Tin House Summer Workshops and the Lit Fest Fellowship for Emerging Writers. He is a graduate of University of Southern California, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in music; his parents didn’t bribe anyone to get him in.

When not avoiding life by dining well or mistaking a brief moment of abundance for the promise of long-lasting happiness, Arya enjoys buying the flowers himself. He lives in Brooklyn.
