While this Sunday is considered the most eventful night in television, you may have other plans instead of tuning into the Emmys. Maybe you want to watch the Season 11 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians or listen to Drake and Future's new album as soon as it drops — which are all happening at the EXACT same time. Sure, those events are important too, but this news will probably convince you to adjust your schedule. Based on his recent stream of tweets, Orange is the New Black 's Matt McGorry will be at the Emmys and it's bound to be amazing. Especially since OITNB is in the running for Outstanding Drama Series. (Fingers crossed that they take home the win!) Leading up to the show, McGorry has been giving his followers behind-the-scenes insight into what award show prep is really like — and I'm hoping it continues throughout the night.
McGorry is known for keeping it real and speaking the truth. Most recently, he's been an advocate for the importance of intersectional feminism. He has also vocalized support for the #BlackLivesMatter and #FreeTheNipple movements. Basically he's all about sharing his thoughts on social media, especially when they can spark social change. While way less political, his Emmys tweets capture that same candid attitude that we know and love.
Here are a few of his pre-show posts:
Bonus? A fan edited that first one and made it even better. Obviously McGorry retweeted the masterpiece.
All of McGorry's Emmys excitement is totally warranted. Since he also stars on How To Get Away With Murder, he'll have plenty of friends in the room and plenty to celebrate. His HTGAWM co-star Viola Davis is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, while OITNB's Uzo Aduba is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama.
Hopefully it's a big night of wins for all of McGorry's co-stars! But honestly, either way he's already winning the night with his pre-show tweets. Please keep them coming.
