Aziz Ansari Has Joined Amy Schumer's Squad

by Kadeen Griffiths

Just when you thought Amy Schumer's squad couldn't possibly get any better, it did. We all know, and have been cheerfully obsessed with, the fact that Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are friends, the kind of friends who hang out a lot, have inside jokes, and play pranks on each other after the Emmys. Sure, according to Schumer, they're not BFFs, but they are really good Fs, and that's all that matters. However, over the weekend, Schumer and Lawrence hung out with Aziz Ansari and Schumer's sister Kim Caramele — not to mention Chris Pratt! — because the Hollywood gods are smiling down on us in this moment. While their weekend seemed to be the very definition of squad goals, I couldn't help but wonder if there was an ulterior motive for this retreat. Could it be that Aziz Ansari is writing a script with Schumer and Lawrence?

Just hear me out. Ansari is a writer, having co-penned not only a book called Modern Romance: An Investigation, but also writing his own standup, and several episodes of Shutterbugs, Human Giant, and more. Schumer has more than proven her own writing chops with 2015's Trainwreck and several other writing credits of her own, but Ansari definitely beats her in the realm of the sheer amount of experience that he has. Plus, Ansari is a feminist, and one who is very open about the fact that he is a feminist, so collaborating with Schumer would result in an even better, even more feminist film.

Even if Ansari isn't helping Lawrence and Schumer to write the script, I at least hope that he (and Pratt) are going to be in the movie. I mean, seriously, witness this squad.

Are they just walking a dog? Are they raising awareness for multiple scoleosis as implied by Schumer's Instagram post of this photograph along with the caption "Cool thing about being paparazzied other than getting to show off my sad t*tties is #roadmanager is wearing a shirt to raise money to fight multiple sclerosis?" Are they hanging out while discussing the bare bones of Lawrence and Schumer's completed script, and how they can elevate that completed script to funnier and more feminist levels?

Someone tell me if this is a vacation or a creative meeting of the minds that happens to include the actress Schumer is writing a script with and Schumer's incredibly talented and creative sister. By coincidence. Personally, I don't believe in coincidences, so I'm passionately choosing to believe that we're eventually going to find out that Ansari is involved in the movie that Schumer and Lawrence will be bringing to our screens one day soon. In the meantime, I want lots more pictures of the comedian hanging out with our favorite funny ladies, with Chris Pratt in the background as the eye candy. As Schumer's famous squad gets even larger, my FOMO increases along with it.
