7 Tips For Doggy Style, The Best Sex Position For Hitting The G-Spot

It was named the U.K.'s favorite sex position, and the U.S. definitely loves doggy style, too. Some people find it too rough or impersonal (although for many, the animalistic side of the position is the whole draw). It has a little "you and me baby, we ain't nothing but mammals" vibe. But while I completely get it if it's a little too intense, the good news is that there are a whole bunch of hacks that make doggy style more fun for everyone. It can be made more or less intimate, more or less rough, more or less ... well, deep, depending on what works for you. Hey, it's the best sex position for hitting the G-spot, so you may as well keep doing it.

So how do you mix up a sex style you may know pretty well? Well, since one partner has more control, it may be worth chatting about it beforehand if you want to try something really different from your usual moves. I'm just saying that it's not an ideal position for communication, but if you're good at saying what you want in the moment, then totally go for it.

Here are seven tips to customize your doggy style. There's a variation out there for everyone.

1. If You're Receiving, Get Involved

It doesn't have to be just a whole lot of thrusting and pounding. As Katerina Messenger says, get involved: "Bounce, pop, swing, and roll your hips." You can even tell your partner to hold completely still for a little bit while you take over.

2. Use A Mirror

If you don't like the fact that you can't see each other, which is a huge drawback for some people, then change it. Strategically-placed mirrors or a wild tryst in the bathroom means that you can have all the fun of doggy, but also be able to make eye contact. And it's extra hot when you can see how much your partner is enjoying it.

3. Adjust For A More Intimate Experience

You can try modified doggy, which not only will help a partner last longer, but will also add some intimacy if you think it's lacking. If during doggy, you go down onto your elbows and then basically lie down (use a pillow under your hips; it helps), then you get a lot of the benefits, but it's a little less intense and a little more close.

4. Or For A More Wild One ...

OK, so if you what you like about doggy is that it's a little intense and wild, then up your game. Cosmopolitan suggests that you go down on your elbows, have your partner lift you by the thighs, and go for the wheelbarrow position. For the brave, for the bold.

5. Play With Yourself

I know that you're bracing yourself, but you can spare a free hand. It's a great position for clitoral stimulation, either with your hand or with a vibrator.

6. Get Comfortable

If you're there for a while, then things can get a little creaky. Try putting a pillow under your knees, or even bracing yourself over the side of a couch, depending on where you're doing it. It'll let you focus on the fun, rather than on the logistics.

7. Up Your Dirty Talk Game

Whether you're going for modified or regular doggy, it's a great position for dirty talk, especially when the giving partner can get really close to the receiving partner's ear. If there's something you like to hear during sex, let them know beforehand, and then enjoy those sexy whispers.
