Guess The 'Mockingjay, Part 2' Lead Single

If you haven't been able to find the Mockingjay, Part 2 official soundtrack, don't be concerned that you've lost your iTunes searching mojo. The reason you can't locate the album on any of your go-to music sites is that, as of right now, it hasn't been confirmed to even exist. Although it would be a bummer if there's no Mockingjay, Part 2 soundtrack or big new Hunger Games song coming our way, it's too soon to say for sure that this is the case.

The movie comes out Nov. 20, so it could be possible that the studio is keeping hush-hush on the soundtrack until the official film release, or it could just be that the album isn't totally done yet, as was the case in 2014 when the Mockingjay, Part 1 tracklist was released with a song called "Track 5" by "various artists" (which turned out to be "All My Love" by Major Lazer featuring Ariana Grande). Or it could be possible that the studio decided not to make a soundtrack, having finally realized that the lead single of Mockingjay, Part 2— or any other movie for that matter—would have no chance of blowing up the same way that Charli XCX's "Boom, Clap" did for The Fault In Our Stars (I can't hear that song without picturing Ansel Elgort holding an unlit cigarette). But if there is a Mockingjay, Part 2 soundtrack just waiting to drop, here are a few guesses as to what its lead single could be.

"Hello" By Adele

This song would be so fitting for Katniss when she discovers that Peeta's loving memories of her have been contaminated by the tracker jacker brainwashing. Plus, nobody can listen to "Hello" without crying, so it would be the perfect emotional ending for saying goodbye to the Hunger Games film franchise.

"Team" By Lorde

Yes, this song has been out for two years, but wouldn't Mockingjay, Part 2 be the perfect opportunity for a resurgence? Follow my logic: 1. Lorde produce the Part 1 soundtrack, so she's obviously game for an HG collaboration. 2. Her own song "Yellow Flicker Beat" was the lead single of said soundtrack, so she's already demonstrated that she can pull off a Games-themed hit. 3. Have you seen the "Team" music video? They're, like, literally in Panem.

"Wildest Dreams" By Taylor Swift

Um, this would be a perfect ballad to describe Katniss' changing feelings about Gale. Also, Taylor had two popular songs on the first movie's companion album Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond, so she would definitely be up for consideration for the lead single of the final movie's soundtrack.

"Cole's Memories" By Pyramid... With A Twist

No major motion picture soundtrack that's trying to appeal to people under the age of 30 would be complete without an EDM track. Cole's DIY track from We Are Your Friends would be a perfect option because it references a Zac Efron film which has already demonstrated its popularity with the tween and teen crowd. The cherry on top? The Hunger Games version could take out the soundbites from We Are Your Friends and replace them with the mockingjay call. It would be the worst song ever, and it would make so much money. Don't believe me? Have you heard the remix of "The Hanging Tree?" Exactly.

It may seem like a far stretch to guess not only that there is a Mockingjay, Part 2 soundtrack coming, but that one of these songs would be the lead single. But you know what? Stranger things have happened in the film and music industries. Here's to hoping that if there is in fact a soundtrack for Mockingjay, Part 2, it has a lead single worthy of the Mockingjay herself.
