Sia's "Cheap Thrills" Brings The Sunshine

by Kristie Rohwedder

You know what Australian singer/songwriter/goddess Sia Furler went and did? The generous and benevolent bewigged deity went and gave us yet another song off of This Is Acting, that'swhat. On Wednesday, Sia shared “Cheap Thrills,” a sunny, summery jam originally intended for Rihanna (via Spin). It should come as no surprise that the song, like everything else Sia does, is the stuff ears dream about.

Hey, Jan. 29, 2016? How are you? You’re doing well? Glad to hear it. I, on the other hand, am in a bit of a state. A state of impatience. Don't get me wrong, I am trying to remain chill. I really, really am. But you have whittled my patience down to a measly nub. I just can’t believe you aren’t here yet. Can't you pack a duffel bag, hop on a red-eye flight, and get here right now? Is that too much to ask? Why am I so eager to hang out with you, twenty-ninth day of January? Because Sia's This Is Acting will hit the proverbial shelves on 01/29/16, duh.

Sure, I love the holiday season and I'm always bummed to see December go, but my body is beyond ready for This Is Acting. Can you really blame me? Thanks to stunners like “Alive,” “Bird Set Free,” “One Million Bullets,” and now “Cheap Thrills,” my excitement for Sia's to-be-released seventh album is at an all-time high. And my patience is at an all-time low.

And with that, here's Sia being perfect, per usual:

Absolutely nothing cheap about this thrill of a tune.
