Cami's Fate Could Change On 'The Originals'

There were a lot of action-packed moments that went down during The Originals midseason finale, but undoubtedly the event that's remained at the forefront of everyone's mind is Cami's alleged death at the end of the episode. After two and a half years of flirtation, Klaus and Cami finally gave into their feelings for one another, but when Klaus awoke from their little snuggle session, he found Cami covered in blood and her throat slashed. And while we now know this evil deed was the work of Klaus' jealous ex, Aurora, it's remained unclear as to how Leah Pipes' Cami could return to The Originals when Season 3 picks up in January.

Show creator Julie Plec recently confirmed to Variety that "This isn’t the last we’ve seen Leah Pipes grace the screen of this show. The question is what context we’ll see her again and just how tragic that will be." So it's not so much a question of if she will be back, but rather how and in what form? And considering that this is a supernatural-centric series, the possibilities regarding her return and/or resurrection are potentially endless, which is why I've come up with a few ideas to help get the ball rolling. Here are the most likely options for our fallen therapist's fate...

1. She'll Become A Vampire

For all we know, Cami had ingested a few drops of Klaus' blood in order to heal after her recent showdown with Aurora, which means the vamp blood would've still been in her system when she died. I doubt Aurora would've been aware of this or done it intentionally since the last thing she'd want would be for Klaus' new love interest to stick around forever. But you know what they say about Karma — it comes back to bite you in the end.

2. She'll Be Resurrected By A Powerful Witch

I'm betting that both Vincent and Freya have the capabilities to resurrect someone who has died. Perhaps even their combined powers could make it happen. And if there's even the slightest possibility that it could happen, you just know that Klaus would stop at nothing until they had succeeded. This would also be a great opportunity to invite Bonnie down to New Orleans for a little TVD crossover episode. Maybe that Phoenix Stone could prove useful in this situation. (Side theory: What if Cami became the The Huntress in the TVD flash forwards? Just saying!)

3. She'll Appear In Dreams & Ghostly Visions

On the other hand, The Originals could decide to go another route and have Pipes' character return, but in a non-mortal way. Whether it be by ghostly visions or dreams or even flashbacks, Cami could remain dead, but still make appearances from time to time. It's not an ideal scenario, but I think we can agree it's certainly better than nothing at all. We'll just have to wait until Jan. 29 to know for sure how this all plays out.
