If Pretty Little Liars has taught us anything throughout the years, it's that secrets have a nasty habit of bubbling to the surface, whether you want them to or not. And that's why it's only a matter of time before we finally figure out what exactly the Liars did to Sara Harvey that made her end up in the hospital back during the Season 6A finale. Initially, when the Liars discussed how they weren’t responsible for Sara being in the hospital, and "what happened to her that night," I thought they were referring to a psychiatric hospital and that she had experienced some sort of mental breakdown. But in the wake of the Pretty Little Liars Season 6B premiere, I'm started to think that the Liars may have actually physically harmed Sara in some way.
Many fans have started referring to Sara as the new Jenna Marshall, considering how the Liars appear to be responsible for both of their afflictions. But while the Liars blinding Jenna was almost immediately established, it's been rather difficult to pinpoint Sara's actual injuries. The Liars were extremely nervous that Sara would show up at some point during Charlotte's trial and show the judge what they did to her, proving that she has physical evidence to their crime.
We know how angry Emily was to find out that Sara was Red Coat (see above), but did the Liars take things further than just a punch to the face? The episode cuts right to the girls being on top of the roof with Charlotte, so there's no telling what precisely went down in-between that time. However, I couldn't help but notice the gloves Sara was wearing at Charlotte's funeral. Was this really just part of her ensemble or could it be a clue as to what the Liars did to her?
The man escorting Sara appears to be assisting her in some way, though I don't think it has anything to do with her eyesight considering she looked directly at the Liars once she sat down. So what does she need him for? Moral support maybe? Or perhaps it's his hands that she needs, especially if something terrible has happened to her own. We know that Spencer disabled the bomb, so I don't think she was involved in any sort of explosion. But maybe the Liars ended up disfiguring her hands in some way, like carving words like "Liar" or "Red Coat" onto her palms, forever marking her betrayal.
It's a dark notion to have about our beloved girls, especially since they are normally the tortured and not the torturer. But when you've been through as much as they have, there's no telling what they could become capable of. Even the most innocent of souls have their breaking points. However, now that Sara's returned to Rosewood, I doubt she's going to let their actions go unpunished. They may have been able to keep whatever they did to her a secret these past five years, but knowing this show, it won't stay that way forever. You could say that their fate lies in Sara's hands. Literally.
