Celebs Who Are With Someone Way Cooler Than Them

by Nicole Pomarico

When it comes to finding a partner, most celebrities date other celebrities, and it makes a lot of sense. It's way easier to date someone who's living the same lifestyle, who understands having a crazy schedule and traveling a lot. But some celebrities opt to date outside of the Hollywood bubble, and when that happens, you'd assume they have dibs on the cool job in the relationship, right? Wrong. Of course, it's insanely awesome to be responsible for creating music and movies and other types of entertainment that millions of people will love, but it's not the only impressive job out there. In fact, a lot of celebrities have significant others with cool jobs that have absolutely nothing to do with Hollywood.

Obviously, the fringe benefits of dating someone in the entertainment industry are pretty sweet: Date nights to award shows, getting to meet all your other favorite actors, and your Twitter following certainly gets a boost. But celebs who are dating someone equally as awesome are getting different perks, too — mostly because they get to spend their free time with someone who's making a difference in the world in a totally different way.

Here are some celebs who are married to or dating people who are doing some seriously amazing things in their career. The celeb half of the relationship might be getting the most requests for selfies and autographs, but if everyone knew how cool their partners are, the tables might actually turn.

Williams may star in Girls, but her new husband is one of the founders of College Humor and Vimeo, all before he was 35. So basically, he's making the rest of us look like lazy chumps.

2. George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin

George Clooney is George Clooney, and I give him credit for that. But Alamuddin is a highly accomplished human rights lawyer. How do you even compete with that?

3. Christian Bale & Sibi Blazic

I don't care if Bale was Batman — his wife is a stunt driver and was even driving one of the stunt cars that chased him in the film. Being that most of us will never be able to break the speed limit without getting a ticket, that's a pretty sweet gig.

4. Anne Hathaway & Adam Schulman

Hathaway's husband is a jewelry designer and his stuff is pretty expensive. On the website of the shop he co-founded, you can buy a pendant starting at $5,000. So it's probably safe to say that Hathaway is definitely not the only one bringing home the bacon.

5. Jenna Fischer & Lee Kirk

Although Fischer starred in The Office, Kirk is a screenwriter and has penned three films and three shorts, and even directed his wife in an episode of The Office, at that.

6. Robert De Niro & Grace Hightower

Hightower sells coffees farmed by people in Rwanda, helping keep people employed in a part of the world that needs it most. Not too shabby as far as changing the world goes!

7. Aaron Paul & Lauren Parsekian

Speaking of people changing the world, the Breaking Bad star's wife launched Kind Campaign, an organization that aims to stop bullying in schools across the country, and from that organization, she's created documentary and spends time visiting schools to talk to girls about why it's important to be nice to each other.

8. Meryl Streep & Don Gummer

This one isn't too surprising, since Streep is such a legend herself that it only makes sense that her husband is impressive, too. Gummer is a pretty accomplished sculptor himself, so basically, they're the ultimate creative power couple.

9. Pharrell & Helen Lasichanh

Forget about Pharrell's music successes for a minute and let's talk about the fact that his wife is a major style icon. Lasichanh is not only a model, but she's also a fashion designer.

10. Jesse Tyler Ferguson & Justin Mikita

Ferguson's husband, a lawyer, has done some pretty amazing things with that law degree, like helping to overturn Prop 8 in 2013. His activism is making such a difference in the world that it's hard to imagine Ferguson isn't super proud of him.

11. Cynthia Nixon & Christine Marinoni

The former Sex & The City star's wife, Marinoni, works a special adviser for community partnerships in the Department of Education in New York, and has always been known for fighting for education.

It's hard to tell who the celebrity is in these marriages when both halves of the couple are so awesome, but why does it matter? There's nothing better than a relationship where two people cheer each other on as they accomplish their dreams, and it seems like that's something these guys definitely have down.
