Kendall Jenner Supports Hillary Clinton While Reminding Her Fans To #RockTheVote In An Awesome Way
With the 2016 election getting closer and closer every day, celebrities are voicing their support for various candidates. If you're Kid Rock or Tila Tequila, Donald Trump is your guy. Meanwhile, Will Ferrell and Sarah Silverman are rooting for Bernie Sanders. On Thursday, Hillary Clinton got another celebrity in her corner: Kendall Jenner. The 20-year-old made quite the political — and fashion — statement. On Twitter and Instagram, Jenner posted a photo in a Clinton T-shirt, along with the following caption:
Shirt by @themarcjacobs. History by @hillaryclinton. #MadeForHistory #ImWithHer @voguemagazine
In the picture, she's rocking a red, white, and blue Marc Jacobs tee, which is part of the Made for History campaign. Big-name designers like Jacobs and Tory Burch have teamed up with Clinton to make a collection of promotional shirts. Jenner is making sure fans know who she's voting for in November.
Kendall's big sis Kim Kardashian previously shared a selfie with Clinton and husband Kanye West. At the time, Kardashian also posted a tweet referring to HRC as "our next president." Makes her political opinion pretty obvious, don't you think?
Honestly, I think it's awesome that Jenner is vocalizing her political stances. Whether or not you agree with her choice of candidate isn't what matters. Rather, it's that she's encouraging her massive following on social media (49.3 million on Instagram and 15.7 million on Twitter) to do their research and get politically active themselves. The younger generation tends to get flack for not being as invested in politics, but people like Jenner are proving critics wrong.
In general, I think the Kardashian-Jenner family gets too much criticism, such as people saying they're "famous for no reason." Regardless of what skyrocketed them into the spotlight, they've had a reality TV show that's lasted 11 seasons, along with countless spin-offs and various other business ventures. At this point, they are famous whether people like it or not. So that's why it's awesome to see Jenner shift the attention to a cause that matters.
Just last week, she shared a photo of herself dressed up as Rosie the Riveter as part of the #RockTheVote campaign. Jenner is using her spotlight for good by reminding her followers to register to vote. No matter which candidate you're rooting for, voting is important. It's a worthwhile message to spread, especially to the KUWTK star's impressionable audience.
Sure, Jenner has already established herself as a high fashion model, but it's statements like these that make her worthy of another title: role model.
