Another day, another Kylie Lip Kit restock. On Tuesday night, Kylie Jenner dropped another restock of her much sought after matte lip kits. While there was some debate over whether Lip Kits or glosses would be the next restock, it seems like kits won. But which Kylie Lip Kit is the most popular? While it may seem like only behind-the-scenes folks would know the answer, the restocks themselves can offer us a clue as to which hues are the most popular in Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics arsenal.
It's hard to deny the popularity of Jenner's original three shades. True Brown K, Dolce K, and Candy K are the OGs of the Kylie Lip Kits, and as such, many would assume that their popularity would stay constant. Jenner, however, seemed to have other plans when she released wildly different shades from the original three. While KoKo K kept up the nude pink tones, Posie K and Mary Jo K — the first a pastel pink and the second a true blue-red — were markedly different from the pink and nude neutrals and deep brown color of the originals. The real departures, though, were 22 and Kourt K. The tangerine hue of 22 and the deep burgundy of Kourt K created mass hysteria on social media, and to be honest, it's not hard to see why.
Of the eight shades, though, which is Jenner's most popular? The most recent restock gives fans a huge clue was to what fans are the most hell bent on snagging. While you may assume that it's the original three — after all, they are closest to Jenner's signature lip — it's surprisingly not. Instead, one of Jenner's pink shades, KoKo K seems to be the most popular despite selling out after Kourt K on Tuesday's restock.
Jenner restocked her Lip Kits Tuesday night at 7 pm EST, and I confess, I was one of the many attempting to get a lip kit (Mary Jo K is definitely mine now, yay!). During my wait for check out, I kept an eye on what was going on with the other kits. The first to sell out? Kourt K. Quick to follow though wasn't the next to last shade to be released — 22 — but was one of the first four colors: KoKo K.
The mauve pink shade is nearly as far away from Kourt K as you can get. While you may be able to make a case that the newness of Kourt K makes it the most popular, KoKo K's popularity can't be tied a recent unveiling. In fact, if anything, an argument can be made that KoKo K, not Kourt K, is truly the most popular.
KoKo K's popularity is probably linked to its seemingly universal appeal. The pinky brown shade is sure to look great on a variety of skin tones and unlike shades like Posie K, Mary Jo K, or True Brown K, it's less risky and more wearable for everyday. Its wearability is where I think its success stems from.
Sure, Kourt K sold out first, but the answer of which Kylie Lip kit is the most popular seems to go to KoKo K, in my opiion. Its staying power during the restocks solidify as the most sought-after shade. Even outside the sell-outs though, is it really that shocking that a Lip Kit named after Khloe Kardashian is the most popular? I didn't think so.
