After a five year long touring hiatus, Sia is going on a North American Tour titled Nostalgia For The Present with fellow artists Miguel and AlunaGeorge. However, it's not just Sia and her opening acts that could be appearing on stage. Sia is now known for wearing her eye-covering black and blonde-haired wigs (some with large bows) while performing on stage — and simply letting her dancers do the performing for her. So, will Sia bring her wigs on tour? It all depends on the style she's going for in the tour itself. My guess would be that the wigs are bound to show up throughout part, if not all, of the show. However, whether or not she brings her wigs really comes down to how she wants to portray herself for her fans.
Sia's privacy and dedication to the music itself are of the utmost importance to the singer. "I was a singer for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success. I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I sobered up, and I decided I didn't want to be an artist anymore, because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilizing in some way," Sia revealed about her wigs during her Carpool Karaoke appearance with James Corden in February, "I thought, What doesn't exist in pop music at the moment?' And it was mystery. I was like, there's pictures on Instagram of everyone at the dentist."
The usage of her wigs only seem to be getting more and more common. In fact, she recently premiered the Finding Dory theme song, "Unforgettable," on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with the help of her wig and even performed at the 2015 Grammys with the wig on as well. So, essentially, there's no event where the wig is not considered acceptable for Sia. And that makes me think that the wigs are definitely packed and ready to go.
However, since it's been so long since Sia has gone on tour — and she's basically undergoing a new chapter in her music career — I also wouldn't be surprised if the wig did come off at some point. This would allow for a more personal connection with her fans that would make the overall tour experience all-the-more worthwhile. With Sia, you can never really know when she's going to shock us, even if she does love the air of mystery that the wig gives her. Plus, having Sia take off her wig on stage night-after-night would certainly be the talk of music industry. Or perhaps she'll just debut some brand-new wigs instead! The possibilities really are endless.
I'm thinking you can definitely count on seeing a variety of different wigs, but, in the meantime, don't assume the entire show will be her standing there in a wig while her dancers take over. I'm expecting some wig and costume change-ups, maybe some cool props, and even a chance that the wig comes off completely. But matter what Sia decides to do, fans will undoubtedly support her either way. Going to see Sia on tour is an event that revolved around going for the music in the first place.
