Tom Hiddleston Thinks He'd Make A Terrible Spy

by Daniela Cabrera

While I've been a Tom Hiddleston fan for a few years, many people are only just finding out about this wonderful catch of an actor and man. This might have a little bit to do with the fact that Hiddleston was recently photographed kissing Taylor Swift on a beach in Rhode Island. Once you're connected to Taylor Swift, you might as well kiss your anonymity goodbye, but Hiddleston has had some practice in staying under the radar for most of his career. He was chosen as one of the hottest TV stars in a portfolio for W Magazine's upcoming August issue, and in his interview, said he wouldn't make a good spy. (He plays one on The Night Manager, but he's also been rumored to be in the running to be the next James Bond.) But I beg to differ.

(Hiddleston's rep tells Bustle they do not comment on their client's personal lives. Swift's rep has not yet responded to our request for comment.)

On his questionable abilities, Hiddleston told W,

"Right now I’d make a terrible spy, because everybody knows who I am. They’d be like, 'What are you doing here?' But Susanne Bier, the director of The Night Manager, said that she thinks I am very enigmatic and good at keeping secrets."

At the moment, Hiddleston is honing his spy chops in his series The Night Manager, and while he doesn't think he would make a good spy, he has already been proving what Bier thinks: He actually can keep secrets very well. Apparently, Hiddleston's relationship with Swift had been quite a secret, considering they met at this year's Met Gala and seem to have been getting to know each other since then.

When I first saw the clip of the two dancing at the Met Gala, I have to admit, I knew something was brewing there. Maybe because I am a huge fan and I know how charismatic Hiddles can be, but I had a feeling Swift wouldn't be able to resist his charms. The two were enjoying a getaway in Rhode Island when they were snapped kissing and snuggling by the beach, which makes me think it wasn't their first date, because that is a special level of cozy.

Hiddleston is known for being very enigmatic when it comes to his love life, and his status is never defined. Like, ever. He has made jokes about his bachelorhood. Recently he told Esquire U K of his status, "Still single, dude! Last of the Mohicans!" It also seems like he prefers to handle his personal life that way. He told Vulture in April, “some things have to remain sacred. You could write that I’m single. There’s no ring on this finger.”

He's most recently been linked to his I Saw The Light co-star Elizabeth Olsen and before that, Jessica Chastain and Kat Dennings, but there had never been any evidence that they were romantic. And certainly, none of those couplings had incriminating photos like Hiddleston and Swift's makeout sesh.

After practicing this behavior over the past few years, and his most recent role on The Night Manager, I actually think Hiddleston is very ready to play the world's most famous secret agent, James Bond. He is the right amount of mysterious and brooding, and, well, his most recent W Magazine photos also prove that he's got the sex appeal to match. Can we please make this a reality? Thanks.
