Look Who's Checking In To 'Scream Queens' Season 2

by Jefferson Grubbs

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Taylor Lautner. Wait, why exactly are we screaming about the Twilight star? Because Taylor Lautner is joining Scream Queens Season 2 and Ryan Murphy's horror-comedy is shaping up to be even more ridiculous in its sophomore season than it was in its first. News of Lautner's casting comes exactly one week after John Stamos joined the FOX drama as a series regular in the role of Dr. Brock Holt, "a brilliant — but secretive — head surgeon." (Is that Head Surgeon? Or head surgeon?)

Lautner will also be joining the cast full-time, and the role will be the actor's first on American television. (He's joining Scream Queens hot off the English sitcom Cuckoo , which he has starred in for the past two years.) According to Entertainment Weekly, the Man Formerly Known As Jacob "will play Dr. Cassidy Cascade, a doc who becomes involved with [Billie] Lourd’s Chanel #3. The character suffers from a bizarre medical condition and finds himself a suspect following a wave of tragedies at the hospital."

Speaking of Chanel #3, Lourd is only one of the many Season 1 cast members returning for a second go-'round. According to TVLine, other holdovers will include Emma Roberts as Chanel Oberlin, Abigail Breslin as her other henchwoman Chanel #5, Lea Michele as (spoiler alert!) last season's killer Hester, Jamie Lee Curtis as Cathy Munsch, Keke Palmer as Zayday, Glen Powell as Chad, and Niecy Nash as Officer Denise.

Of course, Season 1 regulars Diego Boneta (Pete), Nasim Pedrad (Gigi), and Lucien Laviscount (Earl Grey) won't be returning, as their characters shuffled off the mortal coil last year. Interestingly, that leaves only Oliver Hudson and Skyler Samuels (who portrayed father/daughter pair Wes and Grace) as the only members of the original cast not yet announced as returning for Season 2.

So what will the returning cast members be up to when we check in with them this fall? According to EW's scoop on Lautner's casting, Curtis' Munsch will have graduated from Dean of Wallace University to owner of the hospital where Chanel and her minions were locked up in the Season 1 finale. Inexplicably, Chanel, Chanel #3, and Chanel #5 have also all apparently transitioned from patients to employees at said hospital — along with Hester and Zayday.

No word on the current occupations or whereabouts of breakout stars Chad Radwell and Denise Hemphill, but hopefully they'll surprise us all by being a happily married couple following their delightfully odd Season 1 hookup.

We'll find out when Scream Queens Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20!
