Some celebrity breakups sting a little more than others. That was definitely the case when news of Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney's split spread on Tuesday. Considering they got engaged on Valentine's Day 2015 (aka the most romantic day of the year), it seemed like the pair was meant to be. Besides the question of "Why?!?!?", here's the next logical thought running through fans' minds: Will Lady Gaga and Kinney getting back together? At this point, I wouldn't rule it out and there's a very good reason. On Instagram, Gaga confirmed she and Kinney are taking a break, but still held out hope that they'll work things out. The "Born This Way" singer wrote,
Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.
It says a lot that she's rooting for a reunion, just as much as the fans are. To deem Kinney her "soulmate" speaks to the true connection they share. It's unfortunate that because they're both talented human beings, they have careers that are rather time-consuming and draining, which make it tough to spend time together. Still, it's comforting to see she's remaining optimistic and has nothing but kind words. People are sometimes bitter after a breakup, but that's not the case here at all.
The connection between these two has always seemed nothing but genuine. They've supported one another through thick and thin. After the 2016 Oscars, Gaga shared how Kinney helped her overcome her sexual assault. Along with a picture of them kissing, she wrote,
I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like my body was ruined by my abuser. But he loves the survivor in me. He's stood by me all night proud and unashamedly. THAT'S a real man.
Meanwhile, Kinney won a People's Choice Award in January and gave Gaga a shoutout. Although she couldn't be in the audience, he said to her, "I want to thank you for having my back and supporting me. You inspire me everyday." How sweet is that?
Only time will tell whether they'll get back together, but based on the above, it sounds like a definite possibility. When Gaga herself is rooting for them, that means the odds are in their favor. The world could always use more love, so let's just keep sending good vibes their way.
