The First 'Wonder Woman' Poster Is Truly Epic

If you know me at all, you're know that I'm not prone to exaggeration, because I feel like it weakens my points. So when I say that the first Wonder Woman poster is truly magnificent, I want you to really take that in, because I chose that word carefully. It perfectly describes what I feel when I look at this image. We've already seen some shots of Gal Gadot as the iconic superhero, who'll be helming her own movie this time next year, and I haven't been disappointed. But there's something about this poster that literally has me in goosebumps. I legit said, "Oh damn," out loud. Yeah, it's like that.

We don't even see Gadot's head in the shot; instead it's her full body, in costume, fist clenched, sword drawn, just straight up emanating raw power. As I'm sure we've all noticed throughout the years, there's a lot that could be sexualized about the Wonder Woman costume. But none of that is emphasized here, which I really appreciate. Instead, the armor element is underlined, with our eyes being drawn to the sword, the Lasso of Truth hanging ready at her belt, her armored boots, and the Bracelets of Submission glinting on her forearms. A light breeze blows the strands of her hair that we can see at the top of the image, and the clouds in the background suggest the end of a heated battle.

Just check out this magic, I can't stop looking at it.

Ugh, I'm so obsessed. I think this is so well done, and such a great indicator for the direction of the film. It suggests that it will be less about Wonder Woman as a female, and more about Wonder Woman as a warrior. The whole attitude of the poster is one of readiness and ability and strength, and it truly gets me so hyped for the movie, in a way I haven't been in a long time. Very very well done to everyone involved — I'm pumped for Jun. 2, 2017.
