What a whirlwind week for Marion Cotillard. The French star not only had to defend herself from Brangelina cheating rumors, but confirm her pregnancy news — all in the same Instagram post. And no, before you even think it, she's not having Brad Pitt's baby. Instead, the 40-year-old is expecting her second child with Guillaume Canet. Obviously the next logical question on your mind may be this: When is Cotillard due? Well, the Academy Award winning actor didn't give away that info. But luckily, fans can examine the evidence at hand.
First, it's worth mentioning that in Cotillard's Instagram post, she handled the situation with class. She was wrongly accused of breaking up one of Hollywood's most beloved marriages. Not only did that mean involving her in Pitt and Angelina Jolie's situation, but it affected her own loved ones as well — by making it appear as though she was unfaithful to her partner. That probably explains why she wrote,
I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
This is significant because it makes me think if the Pitt rumors hadn't happened, she may not have announced her pregnancy news on Instagram. Or at least not in this way, where the accusations practically forced the info out of her. She doesn't say when the baby is due and instead shifts her focus to wishing peace to Jolie and Pitt, since she "deeply respects" them. Again, showing how mature she is.
As for her own family, Cotillard and Canet have a 5-year-old son Marcel. While Marcel was born in May 2011, it was in January of that year that Cotillard announced she was expecting, according to People. Using some basic math, that means she announced the news only four months before baby #1 was due. Does this mean that baby #2 will be here early next year? It's possible she went with a similar timeframe. It's equally possible that the recent spotlight on the star forced her to announce the news sooner than she initially planned.
According to HollywoodLife.com, Cotillard is nearing the end of her first trimester. Their exclusive sources say she's four months along. If this is true — but again, no knowing how legit those sources actually are — it still leaves a similar time estimate to the one mentioned above. If taking all of these details into consideration, this will likely be a January or February baby.
While fans will just have to wait and see, I would bet that the child will arrive early next year. In which case, hopefully all these Brangelina rumors will have blown over by then. That way Cotillard can focus on what's really important — enjoying her time with her family.
