Selena Gomez Can't Stop Breaking Instagram Records

by Michelle McGahan

Queen of Social Media Selena Gomez just can't stop breaking those records: Gomez now has 100 million followers on Instagram, making her the first (and only) person to hit a number with that many zeroes. That number is even more impressive when you take into account the fact that Gomez is taking some time out of the spotlight: She canceled her remaining Revival tour dates to focus on her physical and mental health and hasn't even posted an Instagram photo in six weeks. Still, that follower count just keeps on climbing.

Gomez broke her first Instagram record back in March when she became the most followed person on the app, beating out the likes of her ex Justin Bieber (who has since deleted his Instagram in a hissy fit), bestie Taylor Swift (who currently has 91.5 million followers), and even Queen Beyoncé (85.4 million followers) and social media guru Kim Kardashian (83.7 mill). And for those keeping track, Gomez broke this record (previously held by T. Swift) with 69.4 million followers — meaning that she's gained more than 30 million followers in six months. I think the most I've accomplished in that time period is going to seven 5 Seconds of Summer shows this summer and having my rent increase. Woo.

But that's not all: The "Kill 'Em With Kindness" singer also has the most-liked photo in all of Instagram's history — with this picture of herself drinking a Coke now having more than 5 million likes and all (it broke the record with more than 3.5 million). This social media win was especially sweet for Gomez, considering the fact that she snatched the record from the Biebs, who had to use a throwback of him and Gomez kissing in order to win that title. Gomez, on the other hand, earned that award with nothing but stunning shot of her sippin' a soda. Who's the real winner here?

Congratulations to Selena Gomez, who will undoubtedly keep shattering every Instagram record until there are none left to break. SLAY, SOCIAL MEDIA QUEEN.
