Nope, Britney's Dating Life Isn't Picture-Perfect

by Jamie Primeau

Considering she's a huge pop star, you would think that Britney Spears' love life was a piece of cake — or at least, that's what I believed. But it turns out that the experience of dating as a celebrity isn't all that different from what ordinary people go through. During a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Spears opened up about her dating dilemmas. If anything, her comments will make you feel better about your own struggles. According to Entertainment Tonight, the "Toxic" singer said,

"It's a little tricky. I have a friend at home, and he randomly sets me up with people every now and then on dates, and it's just awkward. I will say that there have been two dates that are kind of cool, but other than that, it's just too much."

Admittedly, I always thought celebrity's agents could arrange dates for them. Say hypothetically Brit-Brit has a crush on Tom Hiddleston. Boom! Her people can contact his people, right? Unfortunately, it doesn't sound that simple. Instead, she's currently relying on one of her friends to play matchmaker. This certainly stirs up some sympathy for Spears, since she's not having the best luck in love. Still, it's comforting to know that famous people go through the ups and downs of dating. Keep that in mind next time your Tinder date goes awry.

Speaking of those downsides, Spears went on to share this hilarious, cringe-worthy anecdote. She said,

"I went with this one guy, and he just looked like a lizard, like I was so scared. He looks just like a lizard, and I had to go. It was really bad."

To be honest, I feel kind of bad for lizard guy. That's not the nicest comparison. Nevertheless, it sounds like a disappointing experience for the singer. Lately Spears has done a solid job showing fans just how relatable her life can be. For example, take that funny video of Spears' sons scaring her. She's not immune to a good prank or a bad date. Oh, and she occasionally lets out a fart at an inopportune moment. This revelation comes courtesy of the same interview, where she played a game of "Never Have I Ever" with Jonathan Ross. Watch the video below for yet another reminder of how relatable she can be.

Fingers crossed that Spears has better luck dating in the future. She just needs to find another Mr. Right to sport denim-on-denim looks with on the red carpet, á la the 2001 MTV VMAs with Justin Timberlake. That was the definition of relationship goals.
