These Runway Looks Can Get Amanda Back on Track

by Mary Avant

Like many fashion and pop culture fans, our intense obsession with celebrity style is only rivaled by our fixation with celebrity gossip (whether we like to admit it or not). That probably explains why we not only jump at the chance to see what Hollywood’s hottest are wearing on the red carpet and on the street, but why we’re also so interested in who Rihanna’s dating and how Kim Kardashian finally made her way onto the cover of Vogue . But there are some instances when the public’s obsession with all things celebrity takes a turn for the worse, as was the case when we all watched the downward spiral of many struggling stars, including Lindsay Lohan and, most recently, Amanda Bynes.

Though we were admittedly transfixed by Bynes’s crazy Twitter tirades and insane outfits, we were also heartbroken to see the starlet fall from grace so quickly and publicly. That’s why we’re beyond thrilled that the actress (and now fashion student) seems to have gotten her act together, looking better than ever at a Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise runway event this past weekend. Posting a pic of herself along with her family on Twitter, Bynes looked glowing and gorgeous in her black blouse, nude trousers, and flowing blonde locks.

Now that she seems to be on the road to a healthy and fashionable recovery, we can’t wait to see Bynes show up in public more often. But just in case she needs a little extra help with what to wear to make her big style comeback, we’ve think these eight Spring ’14 runway looks were practically tailor made for the young star.

There's no better way to make a fresh start than in a pretty, floral-print piece for spring. This patterned ensemble is polished enough to give Bynes's image a sense of seriousness, but bright and playful enough to keep it from looking too mature.

2. Cushnie et Ochs

Every wardrobe needs an LBD, and this one is the perfect minimal number to show off a little bit of skin in style.

3. DKNY

This shade of cobalt blue would pop beautifully against Bynes's skin, and the curve-hugging cut and feminine style could work for nearly any occasion (though we suggest leaving the sneakers at home, despite it being a trend).

4. Clover Canyon

Bynes needs a look that's intriguing enough to catch the spotlight, but not so over-the-top that it makes the worst-dressed list. This graphic, structured sheath from Clover Canyon could do the trick.

5. Michael Kors

Ideal for a casual day in the big city, this pretty frock would look amazing on Bynes when she's snapped in the inevitable street-style photo.

6. J. Mendel

Bynes would positively shine in this feminine, softly draped number that's perfect for the transitional days of spring, especially when paired with a fun heel or major statement necklace.

7. Marissa Webb

Decked out in a loose, lightweight, red-hot mini dress, Bynes could show off her healthy body and dramatically improved sense of style in this color-drenched number.

We can easily envision the budding fashion star turning heads at her debut red carpet event in this simple but chic asymmetrical gown.
