Your Best Career Paths, Based On Your Zodiac Sign

You look to your horoscope for advice on everything — from who to date, who to hook up with, and what you should do with your week ahead. But have you ever looked to your sign for career advice? Well, seeing as the zodiac is pretty good at zeroing in on your most shining personality traits, it can be fun to take a peak.

After all, your personality is one of the only things you should be considering when deciding on your best career paths. OK, fine — you can consider money and stability and all that. But are you outgoing and personable? Incredibly introverted? Dreamy and artistic? These are things to think about when choosing a career. Focus on them, and you should find a career that makes you feel happy and fulfilled.

However, do keep a few things in mind when consulting your sign. "You can get many clues from your sun sign as to the type of career you can become involved in," says astrologer and author Lisa Allen, in an email to Bustle. "But it is not the only place for clues." You might also want to look into your rising (or ascendant) signs to get a bigger picture, as well as your 6th house and 10th house signs. Sound interesting? Then read on for what your sun sign may have to say about your best career paths.

Aquarius (January 19-Feberuary 18)

As an Aquarius, you certainly are an individual, so avoid stuffy work environments at all costs. You'll do much better by getting out in the world and helping people, Allen tells me. For this reason, humanitarian work may be right up your alley. Same goes for anything to do with survival knowledge where you can help people through "tough" times. (Camp counselor or hiking guide, anyone?)

Pisces (February 18-March 20)

You're a total dreamer, so don't be surprised if you struggle to find a career that is interesting and serves people — but also pays the bills. Many Pisces find themselves in the arts, but you might also do surprisingly well in the tech world. A career with computers lets Pisces live in a cyber-reality, Allen tells me, which fits perfectly with the sign's ability to float in out of out "real life."

Aries (March 20-April 19)

As an explorer type, you would do well in an outdoor, activity-driven career. But even a less adventurous job could work, as long as you don't have to sit behind a desk. As an Aries, you're a great self-starter, so consider starting your own business. "You are ... the ideal type that creates businesses to sell at a high profit," Allen says. Get to it, and make yourself some bank.

Taurus (April 19-May 20)

You are steady and self-directed. As long as you truly care about your job, nothing in the world will stop you. That's why "self-employment can work as long as you have your own good reason to get up in the morning," Allen says. Find a career you love, and motivation won't be a problem. If you do decide to work for others, however, make sure you get to work with your hands. Think along the lines of woodworking, painting, real estate staging, hair styling, and interior design. This will help you feel in control of your work.

Gemini (May 20-June 20)

Geminis are excellent communicators. You're always the one passing along big news and noticing trends way before anyone else. For this reason, you would excel in media, writing, speaking, and even entertainment. Because you're also a wonderful mimic, Allen tells me you'd do well as a comic, actor, or model. "You are so versatile, you may have more than one job, or a job and a serious hobby as it is hard to find jobs that fill all your interests," she says. (So writer by day, comic by night?)

Cancer (June 20-July 22)

Cancers are the nurturers of the zodiac, so it makes perfect sense for you to go into a caring field. Think along the lines of healing work, mothering, gardening, or teaching. Basically, anything that gives back. "Service for the country you love is also a theme, so it could be for the police/military, or humanitarian organizations that help improve lives," Allen says.

Leo (July 22-August 22)

Leos have a "royalty energy," which makes leadership and management positions feel perfectly natural. You'll also excel in any performing arts fields — acting, singing, modeling, dancing. As Allen tells me, if your body or image can be part of the work, you'll be happy. But it's not just about being a pretty face, or snagging attention. Leos have strong ideals, so make sure your career gives you a sense of purpose.

Virgo (August 22-September 22)

As a Virgo, you are all about service jobs. These are the skills the world needs, but are often overlooked. Allen points to coders, editors, proofreaders, painters, and plumbers, as examples. If any of those fields strike your fancy, go for it. Same goes for jobs that require attention to detail. Because you have a keen eye, you'd make a great aesthetician, organizer, researcher, investigator — even a cop or a doctor.

Libra (September 22-October 23)

Libras are the beauty and aesthetic experts, so don't be surprised if you find yourself going the route of interior design. Because you are sweet, you would make an excellent salesperson, too. "[Libras] can sell anything to anyone, even if they don't need it," Allen says. Use this to your advantage, and you'll have yourself one thriving business.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

Scorpios are intense and transformative, so you'll want a job that touches you and others on a deep level. For this reason, Scorpios do well in healing and psychic work. You might also be interested in psychotherapy, surgery, crisis counseling, and even crime scene investigating. "It seems nothing is too scary or too big for you to handle," Allen says. So get to it.

Sagittarius (November 21-December 22)

Sagittarius is a freedom-loving sign, so finding a career where you can call the shots will be your best bet. This is especially true if you can get out in the world and explore — especially in different cultures. Being a college professor may be a good fit, as well as an outdoor adventurer, foreign language expert, or travel agent. Freedom of thought, freedom of location, and freedom of movement is where it's at for you, Allen tells me.

Capricorn (December 21-January 19)

Capricorns like to see results. You're most happy when the work you do is practical, useful, and leaves a lasting legacy. Does that ring true? Then look into managing or overseeing, or even executive positions. "Capricorn has a hawk eye for eliminating waste of time or resources," Allen says. For this reason, you would also do well working with money. If banking or business sounds intriguing, these routes may be worth a try as well.

Really, any career you want to pursue can work out — regardless of your sign. But sometimes it's fun to take a look at things from a different angle and see what the stars may have in store.
