50 Shades of Lucky

by Kadeen Griffiths

Rita Ora is best known for two things: she's a singer, with such singles as "I Will Never Let You Down" and "Hot Right Now" under her belt and she is Rob Kardashian's ex-girlfriend. Now she can add stripping Zac Efron on stage to her list of credits, but the thing that's really got everybody talking is her role in the upcoming film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. Not as much as they're talking about shirtless Zac Efron, mind you, but enough. Ora took to the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards to reveal what little she could about the movie, including the revelation that her role in it was sort of a fluke.

"I approached them for a soundtrack and then it ended up kind of me being in the movie. I'm not going to complain," said Ora, who professed to be sworn to secrecy about certain scenes of the movie that she had already seen. She also revealed that she auditioned for her part eight times before she finally got it, something that made her understandably nervous that she wouldn't get to be in the film at all.

It will be her first real, big acting role, since most of her appearances have been uncredited or cameo roles that didn't even come with names. Ora is playing Christian Grey's adopted sister, Mia, and if that goes well enough then there's a good chance we could see more of her on the big screen. "Doing the movie was probably one of the best things ever... getting out of the music and just making it work was really good," she said during the interview.

While we're sure that music is her first love, Ora seems to have at least some interest in exploring singing and acting like so many performers before her. Only time will reveal whether she's good enough at it to build a career. If not, she can certainly continue singing. If she wants another project on the side, she can do us all a favor and follow Efron around to every award show to make sure he doesn't skimp on the shirtless flexing.
