She's Making a Case for Best-Dressed TV Star
After nearly two weeks of the show-stopping glitz, glam, and unbelievable style that is the annual Cannes Film Festival, you may think that no other festival could possibly compare — particularly when it comes right on the heels of the fashion-filled 2014 Cannes closing ceremony. And you would be right. But that doesn’t mean other festivals aren’t at least trying to deliver some of the fabulous fashion Cannes is famous for — and the Monte Carlo Television Festival is definitely one of them.
Set amidst the backdrop of the beautiful French Riviera city-state of Monaco, the annual television event draws some of the biggest (and, it must be said, well-dressed) stars of the small screen, and this year has proven to be no exception. Not only has Community -turned- Girls star Gillian Jacobs charmed us all with her patterned frocks and stunning red dresses, but Scandal ’s First Lady Bellamy Young has also absolutely ruled the red carpet in her dramatic mixed-print ensembles and classic, structured black-and-white gowns.
But there’s one television star who has risen above the rest as far as fabulous festival fashion goes: None other than Once Upon a Time heroine Jennifer Morrison, who’s proven that she may just be leading the pack in the race for best-dressed actress on primetime TV.
After making her first photocall appearance in a polished, head-to-toe-nude Jasper Conran ensemble — an outfit that was punctuated with basic black accessories and a beautifully braided ‘do — the actress showed up looking absolutely breathtaking at the Ministere d’Etat Cocktail Reception on Monday evening. Wearing a tulle Romona Keveza creation in a similar nude hue, Morrison looked nothing but romantic and ethereal in her sheer-neckline and embellished-waist gown. And that lip! You couldn’t ask for a more perfect red pout.
Not satisfied with stopping her flawless fashion run there, the actress showed up at yet another event on Tuesday at the Monaco Palace, where she stunned once again in a floral-embellished, tea-length couture gown from designer Georges Hobeika. With its fitted bodice, full skirt, and glittering details, Morrison could have passed for royalty with ease — particularly with that rosy cheek and princess-perfect bun.
While she may have stayed in the same vein color-wise for her festival appearances, there’s no denying that the Once Upon a Time star made a good name for all the television actresses out there. And if she keeps it up in the fashion department, she’ll be wearing the best-dressed TV star crown in no time (watch out, Kerry Washington!).
