And the VMA For Best Female Video Goes To...

Let's just say it must've been a tough choice deciding a winner for the "Best Female Video" category at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. Does there really only have to be one top video? Basically everyone on the list gave us an amazing girl power anthem in 2014, and I would be content listening to any of them on repeat. Iggy Azalea let us relive our Clueless nostalgia, while Beyoncé gave us quite an intimate look at her and Jay Z's relationship. (Or at least what it used to be... ) "Problem" proved girls can rap just as great as the boys, and duh, Katy Perry can do no wrong. And Lorde? She's a royal no matter what her lyrics say. Still, Katy Perry won in the Best Female Video category for "Dark Horse," despite the stiff competition.

Let's just recap that stiff competition:

  • Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX – “Fancy”
  • Beyoncé – “Partition”
  • Lorde – “Royals”
  • Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea – “Problem”
  • Katy Perry ft. Juicy J – “Dark Horse”

So serious props to Perry for pulling out the win in the category with her track, featuring Juicy J. During the acceptance speech, she said, "That's a great way to start out the night. Getting a moon man." Yup, looks like her night is off to a great start. She's already having the best time, as evidenced by her ensemble. In case you missed it, she and Riff Raff are dressed like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, circa the early 2000s in their denim-on-denim looks.

In the end, she thanked her fans and her record label, saying, "Thank you so much. We put a lot of work into this song. We're gonna party tonight!" We bet you will, Katy.
