After three nominations, Josh Hutcherson finally completed his Ice Bucket Challenge. It was starting to look like he'd be one of the celebs to firmly ignore their friends' nominations, but he finally came through. He posted the video several days after Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence, co-star Liam Hemsworth, and Canadian reality TV stars Drew and Jonathan Scott of the Property Brothers challenged him. He was well outside the 24 hour time limit, but it was nice to see him step up to the plate in the end. And though watching Peeta get doused in ice water while wearing a white shirt (a common trend for the male celebrities partaking) was very satisfying, I'm still pretty mad at Hutcherson for one thing: he didn't nominate Jennifer Lawrence.
In this celebrity Ice Bucket Challenge trend, poor J. Law has consistently been overlooked by her peers. She was nominated by Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson, but was completely ignored by the movie's director and all of her fellow costars. Liam Hemsworth (Gale), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Sam Claflin (Finnick), Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen), Elizabeth Banks (Effie), and Julianne Moore (Alma Coin) all completed the challenge, and not a single one of them nominated the film's lead actress.
I was especially holding out hope that Hutcherson would nominate his friend. The fact that J. Law doesn't have a Twitter or Instagram would make it hard for her to see Nina Jacobson's nomination. But since J. Hutch and J. Law are BFFs (until now, apparently) he'd be able to nominate her and then, like, text her and tell her she was up next.
But a frozen Josh Hutcherson let us down when he challenged a bunch of his old teachers. Like, aw, cute, but also no. Jennifer Lawrence needs to be challenged, and if she was going to listen to any nomination it would have been Hutcherson's since the duo are so close and such good friends.
Instead we might make it to the end of this cycle of celeb challenges without ever seeing Lawrence's take on it, and that's pretty depressing because you know her video would have been even more epic than Benedict Cumberbatch's attempt.
But at least you can ease your depression by watching Hutcherson get a bunch of freezing water dumped on his head.
That's right J. Hutch. You deserve being cold after denying us a J. Law nomination. I don't feel sorry for you one bit.
