Some 'Mad Men' Ad(vice) To Help Pass The Time

by Kelly Schremph

They say parting is such sweet sorrow, so why does the thought of Mad Men 's seventh and final season leave me with such a bitter taste in my mouth? Probably because I am so not ready to say goodbye to Don Draper and his perfectly tailored suits. (Sigh.) Either that or I accidentally drank orange juice just after brushing my teeth. Again. But end the show shall, and there's no amount of Old Fashioneds that can help soften the sting of that blow. Come Spring 2015, Mad Men will close the doors on Sterling Cooper & Partners for good whether we like it or not. And while that pivotal point in time may still feels like eons away, there are plenty of ways to distract yourself until Mad Men Season 7 Part 2 starts.

Of course, this is much easier said than done. Taking our minds off the wonders of Jon Hamm is no easy feat. But that doesn't mean you can't find something else just as compelling to obsess over until he's back in his rightful place on your small screen. So to prove that Mr. Draper isn't the only one with some sweet pitching skills, let me give you some helpful ad-vice on what to do until Season 7B makes its grand debut.

After all, as Don always says…

And here's how you can do just that:

Binge Watch A Brand New Series

I don't know about you, but the idea of replacing one obsession with another sounds completely healthy to me. But even more importantly, it's proven to be very effective in the past. So just browse through your Netflix menu, see what appeals to you most, and let the binge-watching commence!

Take Dance Lessons

If there's one thing my childhood slumber parties taught me it's that dancing can solve pretty much all of life's problems. As soon as you hit that dance floor, time will no longer matter and you'll find yourself right smack dab in the center of all the festivities.

Dive Into a Good Book

Any book will do, though a trilogy or some sort of franchise series like Harry Potter is always preferable, given that they tend to eat up more of your time due to length and pure awesomeness.

Do Some Traveling

Jetting out to parts unknown is a surefire way to get your mind off Don Draper & Co. You'll be experiencing so many new adventures there simply won't be room in your head to think about anything else. I hear California is wonderful, weather-wise. (Not so much for long distance relationships, though.)

Re-watch the Series

It's the perfect way to relive the magic of the show all over again. Not to mention it'll refresh your memory on some story arcs you may have forgotten. And it just so happens that Seasons 1-6 can be found readily available on Netflix. Stream away!

If Nothing Else Works, Get Drunk

And let's face it — this series wouldn't want it any other way. Cheers!
