A 'Revenge' Favorite Is Back on TV

by Ariel Kay

Part of growing up is realizing that your parents are fallible. It happens to everyone, but not everyone has to deal with the same level of fallibleness. Margarita Levieva's character on the new show Allegiance should know. Turns out, her mom (Hope Davis) is a spy for the Russian government. That's a pretty heavy concept for any young person to take in. But Levieva has some practice playing characters with less-than-ideal families. Before Allegiance, the actress played the (fake) Amanda Clarke on Revenge Seasons 1 and 2. If there was ever a role with a tough family background, Amanda (or Emily, as she was originally named) was it.

Fake Amanda was killed off in Season 2, after Nate (one of the evil Ryan brothers) used his dying moments to set fire to the boat he, Emily, and Amanda were fighting on. It was an especially tough blow for fans, because Amanda had finally just settled down with Jack Porter and had a baby. But luckily for us, the actress has been working steadily since her time on Revenge came to a close. Where else have you seen Margarita Levieva before? She's appeared on a whole bunch of cool projects.

Check out this clip of Levieva and her on-screen mom Davis describing their new show:

Let's take a look at some of Levieva's other projects:

The Loft

A sexy thriller currently in theaters, The Loft is about a group of five married men who rent an exclusive, upscale apartment (the titular Loft) as a place to bring their mistresses so their wives won't find out. Charming. It's going great (for the men), until a woman turns up murdered in their secret little affair den. Levieva plays Vicky in the movie, one of the men's sisters... whom another guy was also sleeping with. Yeah, something tells me that next family reunion might be a little awkward.

Spread

In this cute romantic comedy, Levieva's character, Heather, woos playboy Nikki (Ashton Kutcher), who's never not had the upper hand in a relationship before. That is, until Heather catches his eye, and for the first time in his life, he realizes he might actually have to put in the effort if he wants to keep her. Somehow, I don't think this is a situation that real-life Ashton Kutcher has to worry about too much.

Vanished

Levieva's first reoccurring role was on Vanished, a show about the search for a Georgia senator's missing wife. Levieva played the senator's daughter, Marcy, who has a few secrets of her own — like that she's sleeping with a new Supreme Court appointee, for instance. The show had promise, but unfortunately its first season was cut short by the 2006 writer's strike, and it was not renewed.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Based on the hit novel by Michael Connelly, The Lincoln Lawyer stars Matthew McConaughey as a defense lawyer who works out of his Lincoln town car (which is why McConaughey is now starring in Lincoln commercials). In the film, he's hired to defend a wealthy client accused of rape by Levieva's character, Reggie. No one wants to believe her because she's a call girl, but by the end of the movie, McConaughey manages to convict his guilty client, exonerate Reggie, and free an innocent man. All right, all right, all right.

You can see the first episode of Allegiance on Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
