Remember last year when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow "consciously uncoupled"? Not only was it sad that those two split, but it was pretty confusing, given the fact that they made up their own phrase. Well, after all of that, now he appears to be spending time with someone new. On Saturday, Chris Martin and Kate Hudson hung out at the beach in Malibu, along with all of their kids. According to Us Weekly, here's what went down:
The Coldplay frontman caught some waves as the Barely Famous actress watched from the beach. Hudson's sons Ryder and Bing played with Martin's daughter Apple and son Moses and the group of six even went out to dinner together afterwards.
This begs the question: Was it a romantic beach date, or just a playdate? Let's investigate!
Based on what we know, Kate Hudson has been single ever since her engagement with Matthew Bellamy ended in December. The two had been together since 2010 and have a 3-year-old son, Bing, together. Despite the split, the two remained amicable, spending Christmas as a family. She also has an 11-year-old son named Ryder, who joined in on the beach day with Martin.
Meanwhile, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow separated last March. It's been almost a year. In the meantime, he's had a reportedly on-again, off-again relationship with Jennifer Lawrence. We never really did see the two together, so based on this news, I'm guessing they're currently "off-again." Martin has two kids—Apple, 10, and Moses, 8—with Paltrow.
Considering the info above, this can mean one of two things: either Kate Hudson and Chris Martin are becoming a modern-day Brady Bunch, or they're just friends forming a single-parent support group.
Option A: They could be dating and bringing together their sets of kids to form a brand new family...
Just imagine Apple, Moses, Ryder, and Bing filling in those other boxes! That's a TV show I would most certainly watch.
Option B: This might've simply been a platonic playdate for their kids. Maybe they're just friends and want their children to have fun together? After all, Hudson once told Harper's Bazaar , "I look up to Gwyneth and how she has been in her life. She's the real deal." I can't imagine she'd date the ex-husband of a woman she admires so much.
While we'll have to wait and see if more beach dates are in their future, let's not jump to any conclusions. It hasn't been that long since either of their splits, and they could just be making the most of the nice weather. But hey, if they are together, more power to them.
