Will "Pretty Girls" Be On Iggy Azalea's Album?

by Kaitlin Reilly

All around the world, people are talking about Iggy Azalea and Britney Spears' new collaboration, "Pretty Girls." And why not? It's not everyday that the reigning Princess of Pop shares her throne with the newest chart-topping rapper. Azalea and Spears' track dropped on May 4 and it's a high energy, Gwen Stefani-esque pop number that happens to make a few good points about cat-calling and male entitlement. The song will inevitably be played on repeat throughout the hot summer months at every pool party you attend, so look forward to memorizing all of the "Pretty Girls" lyrics by the end of August. The single is a major career move for both Azalea and Spears, but now that we have the song, the question becomes: what album will "Pretty Girls" be on? Here's what we know so far.

It looks like both Azalea and Spears wanted the song for their own album, but in the end, one of the stars won out. According to Azalea's interview with MTV on the red carpet for the iHeartRadio Awards, Spears landed the track after she told Azalea her album was ready:

“It was such a journey, that song. I got asked and it was her song, and then she didn’t think she would have her album done in time, and then I rewrote parts of it and it became my song, and I tried to make it all mine and keep it. Then she said, ’No, no, I am going to take it, my album is ready...' And so I swung it back her way because she’s Britney Spears, you have to do that. She gets whatever she wants.”

Preach, girl.

As for anything about Spears' new album? Well, that seems to be up in the air. We don't know much about her new work, except for the fact that we can expect it relatively soon, and that it will now feature "Pretty Girls." A major artist collaboration is certainly a good way to kick it off, and "Pretty Girls" will certainly be one single we can bop our heads to for some time.
