Watch Kate Hudson Nail "The Star-Spangled Banner"
It looks like somebody is in the holiday spirit! Actress Kate Hudson started her morning with an awesome note(s) when she posted an Instagram video of herself singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" in celebration of the Fourth of July. If you remember Hudson's turn on Glee as Rachel Berry's (Lea Michele) acerbic dance instructor, Cassandra July, it should come as no surprise that Hudson absolutely nailed this anthem — and during the wee hours of the morning, no less! Donning red sunglasses, a t-shirt, and floral pajama pants, Hudson paired her belting of "The Star-Spangled Banner" with some hip-shaking and sassy snaps that are truly on fleek. In the video, she is also seen holding a mug of what I assume is either coffee or tea that must be loaded with some type of herbal substance or honey to lubricate those precious vocal chords. Seriously, how does anyone sound that good in the morning?! I can barely speak before finishing half a pot of coffee (I may have a problem), let alone offer a performance that may warrant a four-chair turn on The Voice.
Hudson captioned the post: "7:30am and I'm feeling seriously patriotic! Happy 4th of July! #ProudAmerican #StarSpangledBanner #RedWhiteandBlue #GearingUpForFootballSeason #MyKidsAreGoingToBeSoEmbarrassed #WokeUpTheNeighbors." Lulz!
The Almost Famous star's vocals have just enough of a raspy quality (how could they not at that time of day?) to infuse this classic anthem with a little grit. And can we talk about those pajama pants once more? Amazing. IMHO, we need to see a lot more Instagram videos of Hudson candidly belting out hits while toting a morning cup of joe. Let's take a look at a few suggestions, shall we?
"Genie In A Bottle" By Christina Aguilera
Hudson has the pipes to rock this track and the body to rock a crop top.
"Can't Feel My Face" By The Weeknd
Bustle's Mallory Carra named this track as a go-to listen for summer 2015, and I agree! What better way for Hudson to continue heating up July than with a rendition of this addictive song?
"All That Jazz" From Chicago
I know we already saw Hudson perform this number on Glee, but I would really like to see a live version where the actress is wearing those same floral pajama pants and sunglasses. It would be everything ever!
"Super Bass" By Nicki Minaj
Hudson can sing, but can she rap? I, for one, would like to find out.
"Somebody Like You" By Keith Urban
This song was featured on the soundtrack for How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I think I've made my point.
"Bye Bye Bye" By *NSYNC
I desperately want to see if Hudson has the choreography to this song memorized, because that would mean we officially have one thing in common.
"The Lazy Song" By Bruno Mars
Those aforementioned floral pajama pants are prime for a day of lazy oblivion, making this song a perfect choice.
