What Will Happen On 'The Bachelorette' Finale?

by Tracy Dye

While many long-running series tend to lose their luster over time, Season 20 of The Bachelorette may be the most jaw-dropping of the entire franchise. I was initially a fair-weather fan of the series, not even having seen an episode of this season until a few weeks back, but suffice it to say, one glimpse of the drama led to marathoning sessions where I devoured every single episode — along with copious snack foods — within a couple of days. And now, all I can think about is the upcoming Bachelorette finale, and what's going to happen.

Only Nick and Shawn remain in the running to put a ring on it, leaving fans wondering who Kaitlyn will choose at the end of the season finale on Monday, July 27. If the finale preview is any indication of what viewers have to look forward to, Kaitlyn's choice will be preceded by quite a bit of drama. I know I'll be tuning in — seriously, I haven't been this hooked on a show since Orange Is The New Black first rocked my Netflix account. Between Kaitlyn Bristowe's initial crowning as this season's Bachelorette, Nick Viall crashing the whole thing and becoming a contestant four episodes in, Amy Schumer showing up (yes, she was in an episode — what?!), and the many emotions of Ryan Gosling's lookalike, Shawn Booth, I am officially deeming Bachelorette to be the most addictive show ever.

But what exactly is going to go down in this pivotal episode? As I consider myself somewhat of a Bachelorette connoisseur at this point, I have come up with a few predictions on what fans have to look forward to.

1. There Will Be Tears...LOTS Of Tears

This one is sort of stating the obvious. Picking a husband — or hoping to be deemed said husband — is stressful enough as it is. When you throw in the fact that your decision is going to be broadcast to a national audience, that definitely warrants some waterworks.

2. Shawn Will Make An Impassioned Notebook-Style Speech

I have been waiting all season for Shawn to bust out his best rendition of a Notebook monologue. He's come close, but no cigar as of yet. Let's hope Shawn goes full-on Gosling during the finale.

3. Nick & Shawn Will Have One Final Confrontation

The fact that archenemies Nick and Shawn got selected as the final two contestants is already enough to make for an explosive finale. There's no way these two won't be facing off one last time. As someone who prefers to make love instead of war, however, my fantasy would be any confrontation leading to a truce and for the two to hug it out.

4. Another Hookup?

In the finale preview, we see Nick and Kaitlyn getting pretty cozy on a bed, and the two have hooked up once before. I wouldn't be surprised to see them give in to temptation again — and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Although Kaitlyn chastised herself for sleeping with Nick, whoever she has sex with is her choice and business. She's falling in love with the guy, after all, and the heart wants what it wants.

5. Best Impression Award Will Go To Shawn

Although I'm a fan of both the frontrunners, my official prediction is that Kaitlyn's family will be most impressed by Shawn. As we saw from the premier, this guy really knows how to make an entrance, and has that whole southern charm thing down to a science.

6. Ben H. Will Show Up

This is really more of a fantasy than a prediction. I can't get enough of the sweet adonis that is Ben H. The fact that he won't be gracing my screen during the finale is simply too hard to bear!

7. Kaitlyn Will Choose...

She's going to choose Nick. I'm calling it right here and now, people. I love Shawn, but it has been pretty clear to me since Nick's spontaneous entrance that he is the guy Kaitlyn ultimately wants. Not only do the two have sizzling chemistry, but why else would Kaitlyn have invited him to hop aboard the contestant train if she wasn't feeling something pretty special?

There you have it. I am fairly confident that at least a few of my predictions will come true during Monday night's finale. Feel free to toss out an "I told you so," though, if I turn out to be way off the mark.
