Watch These Feminist Shows With Your Sister
In 2017, finding TV shows that are worth your time can be a difficult task. In the age of too much choice, it's easy to spend an entire evening scrolling through Netflix just looking for something to watch. And when it comes to viewing TV with members of your family, it's nearly impossible to find a show that pleases everyone. Which is why we all need a super helpful list of feminist TV shows to watch with your sister, when you both just want to kick back and marathon some awesome content.
Luckily, TV is pretty female-friendly right now, and there are so many options to choose from. If you expect your shows to be feminist and fierce, then look no further than The Good Fight. The Good Wife's spin-off is not only way more feminist than its counterpart, it's unafraid to tackle serious topics head on like rape culture, doxxing, and alt-right politics. But if that sounds too heavy for a night in with your sis, maybe you need something retro, like Sister, Sister. Relive your childhood and hark back to a simpler time when you didn't have rent to pay and the internet wasn't used by mere mortals yet. Prepare some snacks, grab the remote, and enjoy.
1. The Good Fight
Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn are my idols, and I feel no shame.
2. The Good Wife
Alicia Florrick's life is incredibly complicated, which is what makes it so fun to watch. Plus, Mr. Big is in prison, so there's that.
3. Pretty Little Liars
There are only 10 episodes left before Pretty Little Liars is over for good. So it's the perfect time to watch the series from the start and get invested in Rosewood.
4. Insecure
Season 2 of Insecure is on HBO starting July 23, alongside Game Of Thrones. You have been warned.
5. Big Little Lies
Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern. That is all.
6. Girls
Regardless of how you feel about Lena Dunham, Girls explores female friendship like no other show on television right now.
7. Sister, Sister
You should definitely watch this with your sister.
8. Summer House
This reality show features twins Ashley and Lauren Wirkus, and they are fire.
9. Gilmore Girls
Gilmore Girls has a real family focus. Plus, the characters are endlessly quotable.
10. Ally McBeal
If you want a throwback to the '90s, when Vonda Shepard was the soundtrack to all of our lives, this is it.
11. Grace & Frankie
Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda continue to wow in their Netflix comedy, and Season 3 will see them start a sex toy business.
12. Dawson's Creek
The show was called Dawson's Creek, but we all know that Joey Potter was the star, right?
13. Felicity
Even though she spends a lot of time chasing after Ben and Noel, Felicity does whatever she wants, which is so refreshing. If you want to watch someone make terrible choices and revel in them, Felicity's your girl.
14. Buffy The Vampire Slayer
It's time to rewatch the Joss Whedon classic from the beginning, starting now.
15. Daria
Daria recently turned 20 years old, yet it's still totally perfect.
16. Gossip Girl
Forget about who Gossip Girl turned out to be, because that was terrible. Instead, remember the good times when Blair and Serena ruled Manhattan.
17. Parenthood
Before This Is Us, there was Parenthood, and it was better in literally every way. Plus Lauren Graham is in it. Watch it now.
Stock up on popcorn and order the pizza. Your sister is going to love at least one of these feminist gems.
