Adele Is Really Embracing The Whole Idea Of Aging

It's no secret that Adele is awesome. Not only does she have an incredible voice, but she's also super self-aware and hilarious AF. Further proving how awesome she is, Adele shared a birthday photo of herself in hair and makeup that made her look decades older than she actually is. Remember, this is Adele were talking about, and no one knows how to get their fans to smile better than the singer. Consider the time Adele forgot the lyrics to one of her own songs and somehow managed to make a crowd of thousands laugh along with her at the hilariousness of the situation. Or how about the time she poked fun at herself during a skit on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she portrayed a parody of herself at a Jamba Juice? Or wait, what about when she flat-out owned Car Pool Karaoke? Seriously, I could go on and on.

On Friday, May 5, Adele celebrated turning 29 years old in a way that proves she's not only fine with aging, but that she even finds humor in it. The Grammy Award-winning singer shared the pic of herself disguised as a much older woman to social media, along with a caption saying, "Nearly 30! Thanks for the well wishes. See you soon." According to The Daily Mirror, the look is a nod to Gran, a sketch show character played by English comedian, Catherine Tate.

I totally feel like I remember seeing one of my own grandmothers wearing a sweater just like the one Adele's wearing. But wow, with the wig, the makeup, and (what look like) prosthetic skin hanging from her face, Adele is giving off legit grandma vibes. And what an epic way to celebrate your birthday.

I, myself, am 30 years old and turning 31 this summer, so I can definitely relate to feeling... well, ancient. But then again, with age comes knowledge and experience. So growing older definitely isn't something to be ashamed of, and I'm glad to see that Adele is aging with a dose of humor. It inspires me to do the same.
