With the end of 2016 quickly approaching, it's that time of year when New Year's resolutions are being set. Well, if this rapper has his way, he wishes only everyone the best after that ball drops on New Year's Eve. Kanye West hopes 2017 will be happy for everyone, he told X17Online.com after being asked if he had a New Year's resolution.

To be exact, he said, "I just want everyone to be happy." Obviously, West can't resolve for everyone to be happy, but who can fault him for wanting people to find happiness? It makes sense, especially for The Life of Pablo artist, who had a rough year. From Kim Kardashian's robbery in October to West being hospitalized for exhaustion, their family has faced some pretty tough times. I'm sure many others hope both West and Kardashian have a happy 2017, as well. After everything they've been through, they deserve it.

You know who else deserves a happy 2017? All of us. There's no denying 2016 was one hell of a year. First of all, there way too many celebrity deaths, including Carrie Fisher, David Bowie, Prince, Alan Thicke, Florence Henderson, among many others. Then, there were awful tragedies, like the devastating mass shooting at Orlando's Pulse night club, which claimed the lives of 49 people. As of 2016, it was also the worst mass shooting in American history.

Of course, there is the one historic event that many will never be able to wipe from their memories. Obviously, I'm talking about the 2016 presidential election where Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton and will takeover as the nation's leader once President Barack Obama makes his final bow.

And these aren't the only reasons 2016 was a horrible year, and I'm sure there are many other misfortunes, heartaches, and tough times individuals have faced that haven't made the news.

If you don't think 2016 has been that bad, there are even articles out there titled, "2016: Worst. Year. Ever?", "Is 2016 the Worst Year in History?", and "A Night to Bid Good Riddance to a Crummy 2016." So, yeah, it seems like the majority of people are ready to bid 2016 a much-needed farewell.

However you may feel about this past year, West's hope for happiness is something we all should embrace and take to heart. Really, who doesn't want that?
