Pete Davidson wanted to get Hillary Clinton a present for Christmas, and did he ever: The comedian got an image of the former presidential candidate tattooed on his leg. Yes, he's a comedian best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, but this is not a joke. Fortunately, Pete Davidson's Hillary Clinton tattoo is getting an incredible response online — including from Clinton herself. She commented on the photo:

"Thanks, @petedavidson. This makes it significantly less awkward that I've had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years. But seriously, I'm honored. Merry Christmas my friend."

The actor revealed his newest ink in his inaugural Instagram post, and the reactions were immediate. Dozens of Instagram comments poured in, but the responses to Davidson's Clinton tattoo on Twitter are the ones fans have to read. They varied in tone and message — admittedly, some users weren't super cool about it — but the funniest, best, and most excited reactions were all incredibly supportive.

Davidson's Clinton piece is far from his first. In fact, the comedian is somewhat famous (or infamous) for his choices in ink; he has everything from tattoos inspired by Harry Potter to the solar system and more along his arms. They're clearly visible in numerous SNL sketches, which is rare. Even when former cast member Brooks Wheelan went on "Weekend Update" to talk about his tattoos, it was to point out mistakes. Tattoos are part of Davidson's identity, and he can proudly add to it a portrait of Hillary Clinton.

Here's what Twitter had to say about Davidson's new leg tattoo:

1. "I Think Pete's Dead Now"

Imagine getting a tattoo of a personal hero, someone you describe as "a badass" and "one of the strongest people in the universe" and then they see it and make a really good joke on your Instagram. Someone should probably check on Davidson to see if he's still breathing.

2. Wait, Is It Actually Kate McKinnon?

One user pointed out that there's a high chance it's actually fellow SNL cast member Kate McKinnon portraying Clinton in the tattoo. (It's not, but that's a fun idea.)

3. Dream Guy

A leg portrait of Hillary Clinton and a Harry Potter-inspired sleeve were all this fan needed to go gaga for Davidson.

4. "This Is All Because Of Me"

That's right — absolutely it is. Thank you, Kellie.

5. Now You Can Get A Tattoo Of Your Hero, Too

Davidson's tattoo is still fresh, and it's already encouraging people to get ones of their own. Interestingly enough, Shelby's hero is McKinnon, whose impression of Hillary Clinton is legendary. She's also a gem in her own right.

6. Another Reason To Love Davidson

Grace is right. There were plenty of reasons to love Davidson before now, but this is the cherry on top of the proverbial cake.

7. But His Hometown Might Not Love It

One person was understandably concerned about the reaction Davidson would get in his hometown borough of Staten Island. Haters to the left.

8. The Only Thing Better Is...

Truly, Clinton's Instagram comment is next-level greatness. Can you imagine if she really had that tattoo? It's a lot. It's a lot to picture.

9. Clinton's Comment, Of Course

Kaitlin appreciated Davidson's heartfelt caption, but wanted to make sure fans didn't miss out on the epic response from Clinton.

10. Just Everything About The Situation Is Perfect

It's true; Davidson's tattoo was indeed inspired by a 1995 conference appearance, where Clinton made the "Women's rights are human rights" comment, and everything about it is just delightful. The image of the comedian poring over portraits and portraits of Clinton to find one he was ready to install on his body forever is the Christmas present fans didn't know they wanted.

So, in addition to the galaxy tattoos, the name of his girlfriend, Game of Thrones-inspired ink, the aforementioned Harry Potter tattoos, the matching one with Miley Cyrus and SNL costar Chris Redd, Davidson can proudly add an etching of mid-'90s HRC to the list. Go ahead and tattoo your heroes onto your legs, people. They might just notice — or surprise you with one of their own.
