Bustle's Editors On Anthony Weiner + Katy Perry

by Melissa Mills

It's beginning to look — and feel — a lot like summer, and I can't wait. We're a week away from the unofficial kickoff to summer, aka Memorial Day weekend (raise your hand if you have a short week next week and the following week), and temperatures have been heating up all over. Just one more reason to bust out your new spring digs! To top it all off, it's finally Friday! So happy, so blessed.

Before you head out for the freakin' weekend, here's what really had Bustle editors talking today, May 19.

Anthony Weiner + Prison Time

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner has pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor and will almost certainly face time in prison. Weiner, who was charged for sexting with a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina, will reportedly have to register as a sex offender and could face a prison sentence up to 10 years. Due to his plea deal, it seems like Weiner's sentence will most likely be between 21 and 27 months, but he'll officially find out how much time he's serving on Sept. 8. While Weiner's future is unclear, we can undoubtedly say that his political career is over.

Say What? Former VP Joe Biden spoke out about the 2016 election and made his boldest claims about Hillary Clinton's candidacy yet.

Katy Perry + Taylor Swift

Today Katy Perry released a new song with Nicki Minaj — "Swish Swish" — and fans are convinced it's about Taylor Swift. The apparent feud between the two singers seems to have originated years ago when one of Swift's dancers left her tour to hit the road with Perry instead. Perry denied that any songs on her new album, Witness, would be about Swift, but the lyrics on this track might say otherwise. Even Swift's friend Ruby Rose came to her defense about it. Listen and see for yourself:

So Sad: Yesterday, it was reported that Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, had died of an apparent suicide by hanging. Today, though, Cornell's family said that they believe the suicide may have been an accident.

Derek Lam + Models

This week, Derek Lam featured not one, but 18 models with cerebral palsy in his runway show. According to the Huffington Post, models with disabilities are one of the most underrepresented groups in the fashion industry specifically. For his Design For Disability Fashion Show, Lam teamed up with students from Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and the Fashion Institute of Technology to prove that fashion and function really can go hand in hand. LOVE this.

Summer Prep: Memorial Day weekend's only a week away, but it's never too early to think about sun care. That's why Consumer Reports revealed its highest-rated sunscreens of 2017. Stock up!

Race + Our Culture

A photo series by photographer Chris Buck entitled "Let's Talk About Race" is taking the internet by storm, and with good reason. The series, which appeared in the May issue of O, the Oprah magazine, explores race and power dynamics (that often go unnoticed) in our culture and is so, so powerful.

Extra Dark Coffee: Goodbye, Unicorn Frapp; hello, "Goth Latte."

What to Watch: You've got two great options. If you're looking to get out of the house, go see Everything, Everything (based on the best-selling YA novel). But if you're more interested in vegging out on your couch, then you *have* to check out The Keepers on Netflix. Or both?!

Weekend Plans: Here's exactly what you can expect this weekend, based on your zodiac sign.
