Twitter Wants Jen Aniston & Brad Pitt To Date & The Memes Are HILARIOUS

When news broke yesterday that Hollywood power couple Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are filing for divorce, social media users wasted no time creating memes with their favorite fan-theory that Aniston is getting with her ex Brad Pitt. While there is no evidence that Aniston and Pitt are making moves to reunite some 13 years after they divorced, this isn't stopping some people from coming up with funny jokes about it.

Aniston and Theroux got married in August 2015. They announced their separation the day after Valentine's Day in a statement that reflected their maturity and respect for each other. Bustle received this statement in regards to their split:

"In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another."

While hopefully the tabloids will respect the former couple's wishes and not pry too deeply into the reasons behind their split, that certainly wasn't the case when Aniston parted ways with her first husband, Brad Pitt in 2005.

When Aniston and Pitt married in 2000, they were seen as a Hollywood "it" couple. She was the lead actor in the biggest sitcom on TV with Friends —she had even inspired a whole hair craze with her look on that show — and Pitt was an A-list movie actor hot off Fight Club and Meet Joe Black success. It seemed like they were a match made in Tinseltown heaven. Yet, as anyone who was alive back then can attest, when they divorced the media went crazy over rumors that Pitt left Aniston for Angelina Jolie. It was imperative at that time that you chose a side Team Jen or Team Angie — there was no room for nuanced discussions about pitting women against one another.

While all that happened a long time ago, the Internet has not forgotten. Now that Pitt and Jolie are no longer a couple — they split after a decade together in 2016 — some people think Aniston broke up with Theroux to get back with Pitt. While this certainly seems doubtful, that doesn't stop the memes and tweets from coming.

For some people it seemed obvious.

And some of these people were inclined to get very excited about this idea.

Some thought it was Jen who was going to do the pursuing

While others were pretty sure it was going to be Brad.

Not everyone thought that this was a positive idea, though. Some people pointed out that while some exes get back together, those relationships rarely work out. It's made extra tricky by the fact that Aniston had to live through a decade of people asking her about Pitt's relationship with Jolie, and she would likely not want to experience all that drama again.

These Twitter users were team single Jen.

Like that thought a romance with Pitt was a really bad idea.

Others discouraged the whole speculation from even happening.

Only time will tell if Aniston and Pitt will find love again with each other — in the meantime, hopefully they're enjoying life being single. Nobody needs a relationship to be happy, and they both have careers to think about.
