Between the archival Chanel midi dress she wore to the 2023 Met Gala and completely sheer Bottega Veneta number at the Barbie premiere, Dua Lipa’s recent red carpet rotation has been truly unmatched. And, judging by her first ensemble of the 2024 awards season, this year’s lineup is going to be even better.

Marking her first-ever appearance and nomination at the Golden Globes, Lipa graced the star-studded soirée in a look befitting her nominee status. And although she was technically up for the “Best Original Song” award, Lipa’s outfit may just bag her another title: that of best dressed.

Dua’s Gothic Mermaid Moment

Before joining Barbie co-stars Margot Robbie and America Ferrera inside, Lipa posed for photographers in an eye-catching noir number. The custom-made Schiaparelli creation was embellished with one of the designer’s signature motifs — gold gilded bones — and the look fit right in with her recent penchant for gothic glam.

Nevertheless, the moody velvet look was not devoid of any callouts to her character. The curve-hugging corset bodice flared out into a voluminous skirt of silk faille — a classic mermaid silhouette, and a fitting fashion choice, given her Mermaid Barbie character.

And because Schiaparelli’s known for a famous attention to detail, the ornate gown was just as good from the back. The skeleton-inspired sparkles continued around the side, complemented flawlessly by a rear lace-up detail.

A Round Of Applause For The Jewels

While her bedazzled bones filled the glitz quota tenfold, the “Dance the Night” singer kept the glamorous vibes going with her archival accessories. Lipa’s dazzling Tiffany & Co. necklace was pulled from the vault, having debuted in 1962.

A bona-fide scene stealer, the piece featured a museum worth of rare sparklers: yellow beryl, topaz quartz, and, of course, diamonds. At the time of its release, the necklace was priced at $12,000, though it’s easily worth 10 times that today.

With this strong awards season start, Lipa is sure to pull out all the sartorial stops once the Grammys roll around. Mark your calendar for Feb. 4, people.
